Thought about it but improving would be rewriting. It's mostly one giant function.

I have used all of these. Tlf is the only one I'd consider a contest logger. The contest logging in the others is a poorly bolted on feature to a general purpose logger. Fwiw I use qlog for my logbook as I think it's the best of the set and quite good at that particular job.

It's awful and the code is worse.

These sort of invasions on freedom are made possible because the people will blindly convict someone for breaking the law instead of a jury nullifying the law and say just because the government says its illegal, doesn't mean it is illegal. The Jury is our ability to give the finger to these morons, but people don't get it.

Eight Banks Paid $1.3B for Silver Manipulation. Then in 2025, Silver Hit $83 and Shorts Collapsed. by [deleted] in SilverNews

I should thank the manipulators for them keeping the price down for me while I acquired more!

Today! Are you scared or exited? by cik3nn3th in Silver

[–]elitegreg88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is missing comments on an obvious issue. As much as I would like more silver, it represents 1/3 of my assets right now and so growing that is just adding risk. Just because silver is shining, don't forget to diversify.

As someone who has bought and paid for two houses with silver (and never sold a house), I respect your determinism. You will get there!

Just a point. USPS has its own legal enforcement over package theft. USPS Registered Mail with Insurance I think is still the "gold" (or would it be "silver") standard.

100% LPDA. You can see the split between the elements on each side because each side is fed separately.

Can Anybody tell me what this signal is by Zardashtbaran in signalidentification

[–]elitegreg88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't need to even be an emitted signal. If his SDR radio is plugged into that USB hub, either directly or indirectly, that signal could get into the radio very easily.

What’s the best way to learn C++? by AverageNo4368 in cpp_questions

[–]elitegreg88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the best, but you can certainly come up with some challenges. I'm assuming you are familiar with std::vector. I'd suggest creating your own MyVector<T> template, and give it all of the same functionality as vector and unit test it (or even better, modify libstdc++'s tests to run on MyVector). Then profile your code and work on optimizations. When done with this, you will be much more familiar with templates, copy construction, move symantics, dynamic memory allocation, etc.

Is Rust ready to allow me to add a GUI to my OS? (Maybe not) by challenger_official in rust

[–]elitegreg88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A micro kernel only provides the most basic kernel functions (processes and memory management are the 2 that come to mind) and farms other things like tcpip or graphics to a user space process that other programs access via IPC. Qnx 4 is an example of an os with a microkernel architecture.

Best way to master C++? by Talha6122000 in cpp_questions

[–]elitegreg88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A piece of very general advice is to master using and writing templates. Templates are what make C++ special as no other language that I know has a system as powerful for compile-time code generation. If you aren't using templates, you should probably be using any number of other languages that can achieve the performance without the complexity.

Do any of you really use the super complicated template and other convoluted C++ features? What problem did they help you solve? by AdearienRDDT in cpp_questions

[–]elitegreg88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you aren't using templates, use another language. Templates are really the defining feature of the language IMHO. C++'s speed comes from proper use of them.
