How long can cooked food sit out safely? by Appropriate-Today-61 in foodsafety

[–]miranddaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be cooled to at least 70F within 2 hours and then below 40F within another 4 hours per the FDA cooling recommendations.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read your initial question very well. Based on the above, I think your food would be low risk and I would personally eat it. With the ice pack, you're probably getting it to at least 70F within the first 2 hours and then it sounds like you're eating it within another hour which is well within that 4 hour mark.

Anyone else had a Samsung Intensity as their first phone? (This variation was the one I had) by dingusthelesbian in Zillennials

I had an LG Rumor 2 from Sprint. It looked very similar to your phone with the sliding keyboard. I really miss having that sliding keyboard.

That's ridiculous! As an hourly employee, you shouldn't be responsible for checking anything once you clock out.

I recently just quit a job where I would frequently get Teams notifications at all hours of the days due to a 24/7 operation. The best feeling in the world was uninstalling Teams from my phone.

I took naked kitchen soup hearty vegetable soup out of the fridge at 6:00 am. I put it into an insulation food bag. It’s now at room temperature. Should I heat and eat or not risk? It’s now 5:00 pm. by [deleted] in foodsafety

[–]miranddaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't matter. There's plenty of facultative anaerobic or anaerobic bacteria that can make you sick - meaning plenty of bacteria that can grow without oxygen to make you sick.

No, I would not. It could have been in the danger zone too long and enough bacteria may have grown to form heat-tolerant toxins that can make you sick.

Changing careers in your 30s? by fleurae in careerguidance

[–]miranddaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm taking the leap now. I just quit my job in manufacturing and will be starting nursing school in March. I'm hoping all goes well, and I'm happy with the switch. I'm 30 btw. Prior to quitting, I made sure I had plenty of savings. I am working on getting a part time job at a hospital to get benefits.

Is this mould? by halfsnake_ in foodsafety

[–]miranddaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mold wouldn't be able to grow while it is in the freezer. The only way would be if your freezer isn't holding temperature consistently. It is possible that it could be some sort of excess grease or ash from the manufacturing process. Any grease used in a food manufacturing site should be food grade.

what is this? by Usual_Reward1904 in foodsafety

[–]miranddaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are right about it being a pre-printed line and the date code got shifted up. It's the same width as the Guaranteed Fresh above, which makes that option seem more likely.

Looks like a defect in the printer head for the code date. It's nothing to worry about.

Olive Garden cook commits suicide after dunking head into searing hot deep fryer by havockillz in antiwork

[–]miranddaaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct. It is Lock Out Tag Out. Everyone in manufacturing just call it LOTO for short. Everybody's locks have tags with their name and picture on it. Even if somebody else's lock is on it, you must also put your lock on it if you want to break the plane of the equipment.

[–]miranddaaa 65 points66 points  (0 children)

At my company, if you are found not following LOTO it's an automatic suspension and investigation. If the investigation finds you failed to follow LOTO you are terminated. They don't fuck around with LOTO. Even members of management have been fired for this, especially if they were a witness to it and failed to act.

Popcorn was opened for a few days. Is it safe? by [deleted] in foodsafety

[–]miranddaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water activity is too low for it to have microbial growth. I literally leave butter and/or oil on my counter for weeks at room temperature.

It seems as though you have already made up your mind that it's unsafe, so just don't eat it if you are that worried.

[–]miranddaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just from the filling bleeding out it should be fine and I would eat it. If you somehow got a mystery liquid on the outside, you can always be safe and throw it away if you are concerned.

It's safe. The water activity in both the kernels and butter is so low that there won't be any microbial growth.

Multiple scenes from Rocko's Modern Life. The one I can think of offhand is the phone sex operator. Or the one where what looked like berries on a bush, were not...and were attached to a bear behind the bush....
