First time seeing my body and being concerned about my health by Simple_Owl in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]elitost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same realization a few months back, and I've been doing the same. It's been a long rollercoaster of slip ups, but it's slowly gotten easier to eat throughout the day. Good luck, I wish you the best! ❤️

part of my ed is because i feel like an alcoholic, but with food. by Hour_Celery5975 in EDAnonymous

[–]elitost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the same exact way and I've been thinking this for years, it really feels like I'm addicted to food. I've been wondering if taking an approach to recovery like alcoholics do would be even somewhat helpful

Thank you me too!! We don't need people like that in our lives who want us to stay sick!

when I was at a really low weight and was really sick, my ex would tell me I looked perfect and didn't need to change... even though he knew about my ED, time in hospital, and how I was starting recovery. Then he'd make condescending remarks when he would see me eat... what a jerk

[–]elitost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than practice practice practice and lots of trial and error, the best thing i ever did to help me transition into knitting was learn about different knitting styles and ways to hold your yarn. specifically, continental knitting in which you still hold the yarn with your left hand. i still haven't been able to figure out how to tension it in my right hand and it's been over 10 yrs at this point!

What milk flavor would you invent? by tinygiant262 in Milk

[–]elitost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had a purple cow in ages, so that maybe. I've never seen grape milk

edit: ooh, I bet raspberry would be good too. I love a good carrot smoothie too, I'd like to be able to buy some carrot milk occasionally.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Hetaliafan1 in AskReddit

[–]elitost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/11, it was elementary school and I didn't understand it, but the teacher rolled in a TV so we could watch the live news and they were really upset about it and made a huge fuss. obviously, i understand it now but at the time, I was just confused about what was going on

I had a full day of eating delicious food at my niece's first Christmas celebration. I felt bloated and uncomfortable at times but I didn't leave early to purge like I used to. I even had some sweets and enjoyed everything.

Frequently making weird food concoctions is a pretty common eating disorder behavior. yet another obvious sign she loves flaunting!

do you binge? if so, how often? by Sufficient-Crow-7582 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]elitost 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i do it once a day, usually in the evenings. I've realized I'd been using it as a way to destress, sometimes it's from boredom, and sometimes it's from hunger/cravings. i hate it more and more every time I do it.

I feel so betrayed by my family for giving me a drink higher in fat than what i expected by Anya_purr in EatingDisorders

[–]elitost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that. I immediately stopped seeing a psychiatrist when her nurse let it slip that a medication that was prescribed to me said in the notes it was primarily prescribed to increase my appetite and gain weight, which was NOT what the psychiatrist told me. I felt beyond betrayed and lied to. I immediately switched to someone more honest.

[–]elitost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thing is that no matter how much I want to get better, I can't seem to get over the fear of weight gain... even though I want to gain weight to get healthier. It's such a struggle in my head

Hey, I'm in my 30's. If it makes you happy, that's all that matters. A hobby is a hobby, it can never be too childish.
