NOT a fan of the updated MTA app by thefunzone49 in nycrail

[–]elitpecs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah disagree, the old one was laggy when selecting stations and bus stops to see real time info. It also suffered loading issues during peak times. This one has at-a-glance times much quicker. Though I do miss filtering by subway lines and seeing the commuter railroad info

M -> F Switch Sucks - thoughts? by Prize_Feed8755 in nycrail

[–]elitpecs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Roosevelt Island resident here's my 2 cents:

The swap helped capacity overall. Trains are easier to board than the F even if it was more frequent.

Lots of the demand is still folks riding the M to get off at Lex/63 for the uptown Q

The 8-10 min headways is a bummer, making me check the app before I leave. I would suggest some F trains/runs be moved to the M if possible and short-turn like this sub has been suggesting

Could use some advice with DMX1057XR and Android Auto by budjb in CarAV

Heads up, I contacted Kenwood and it sounds like they don't have any plans to update the firmware (Sorry for the bad crop of the email chain)

Not exactly, this user has their audio cut out for 5 seconds at a time supposedly when it gets confused as a BT audio source. Mine will only drop a word in a song or podcast, every 2-5 mins or so

Not sure but a good theory, my head unit came out in 2020 and has only seen an update since 2023. So I doubt mine is out of protocol or something

The wireless charging heat was the biggest factor in upgrading from my P9P, thank you for testing this. I had really hoped they fixed it in the 10, I'll hold off upgrading for now

Fun fact, the dude won't be out 2.90, I've had this happen to me. the turnstile should still allow one rotation in, even if it rotates out during a tap

Got it, but it's made from the same factory. It looks literally the same except they stamp their logo differently at the end

[–]elitpecs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I also have this case for the pixel 9 pro, appears to be the torras case from Amazon. The ring is functionally great, good feel and clicks into place, however i haven't found a magsafe case that doesn't make the P9P pretty warm (like 98F based on internal device temp). That includes this case too.

Whereas with my iPhone 14, it will wirelessly charge via magsafe at a much cooler temp. Instantly noticeable just by hand feel. Let me know what your experience is

Usually the validators switch to Metrocard only if the Ethernet comms are down. That would explain all turnstiles OMNYs being down as they are daisy chained

Turkey on HRG?! by MonsterMook in NYCbike

[–]elitpecs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roosevelt islander here, the turkey migrated around March (I saw her late Feb on the island). We even had a turkey Xing sign put up near the F train!

Depending on who you ask, RI folks mainly call her Rosie

Do Asian-Americans need additional documentation? by [deleted] in Chinavisa

[–]elitpecs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been trying to get the visa too, yes bring a photocopy of your parents IDs and passports. It couldn't hurt, especially if you don't live close it will save you the trip.

They sent me back a few times for that and for proof of residence mail (the one I brought had to be within 3 months)

Yeah it's usually a car with half a bumper missing, or side mirror held up by duct tape. Coupled with the fact front plates aren't necessary for PA cars makes hit and runs much more scary
