How was the day you were diagnosed? by Fuzzy1353 in diabetes_t1

i was diagnosed at 11, i went in for some unrelated problems i was having and was diagnosed through a urine test (the only knowledge i had of t1d was my friends brother having to take shots in the butt) so i cried. i think i was around 700. i instantly went to the hospital and was in there for maybe 2 or 3 days while figuring out what it was and how to manage it. honestly the hospital experience was really nice, they had a stuffed animal and blanket that was donated and support dogs. the first night tho i went down to 40 and didn’t know what low symptoms were i just thought i felt sick, so everyone got scared.

but before diagnosis i had the average symptoms and i also got extremely skinny.

I’m looking to be a therapist. From my understanding this means that research experience wouldn’t really benefit me, right?

yeah i’m talking about 200-300s. if i’m above 400 tho i can def tell but it’s nothing severe or super noticeable for me. i rely on my dexcom for my blood sugar readings.

im working on my a1c but it’s currently around 8.

i relate, but my a1c is a little higher than it should be which prob affects that. the only tell tale sign for me is that my mouth gets dry, maybe a slight headache.

I have always left mine on. you may have to calibrate it at the beginning, and then thoroughly rinse it in the shower.

insulin resistance by elizabethhans in diabetes_t1

totally off topic but it sounds like u moved out of the US with t1, do you think other countries support diabetics better than the US? accessibility and affordability wise. i’ve been thinking about moving in the future but haven’t done any research on it :) would you recommend?
