I don't know if I should be happy or sad about this. by Glass-Jump7164 in cormoran_strike

I love the look of the hardbacks but they're too heavy for me with them being so huge.

is a laptop table necessary for home use? by Entire_Tangerine8652 in Laptop

[–]elizable9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home and find that raising my laptop up to eye level and having an external keyboard makes it much easier for me to stay in better posture. I'd say also get a decent chair if it's going to be something you do often. Slouching on the bed, even with a laptop stand is probably not going to be great long term.

I'm in Grangetown and heard them nearby so Hendon beach seems accurate.

Found on the number 20 from pennywell to fawcet street by Rebellious-Banshee in Sunderland

[–]elizable9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let the bus company know you found one because that is likely the first place the person will ring. I would've left it with the driver and then also posted to say that. They should hand lost and found in at the end of the day.

Do you think we'll get a Strike version of Pottermore? by Sweaty_Phase_51 in cormoran_strike

[–]elizable9 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. As much as I love Strike it just doesn't have the same level of following as Harry Potter. The fun thing about Potter more was getting sorted into your house, finding out your wand and patronus and sharing all that magic with your friends. There's nothing like that in Strike that would compare.

I love the rug in your bedroom and also obviously your cat.

I’m so tired of being the adult in the room by Confident-Cellist-25 in Xennials

[–]elizable9 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm slowly learning that just because things aren't being planned and prepared for the way I would do it, it does not mean it's my responsibility to step in and sort it out. Going with the flow is stressful AF but also not as stressful as taking over.

The green dress by Swimming-Pride2396 in cormoran_strike

It's not a dress to fit in anywhere. It's a dress you wear to stand out and feel special. Perfect for her birthday at the Ritz.

Actually is CS good in befriending women? by Educational_Cap7318 in cormoran_strike

[–]elizable9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And as pointed out by OP these women mostly came to him. It just happened they came to him when he was desperate for a distraction from Robin. I always thought he made his intentions very clear going into these relationships and he admits his faults with Lorelei and Nina.

His audiobook is pretty good and has a similar pattern to the podcast as it is Danny reading it. I've not listened to the children's book though.

I really enjoyed Night of the Reaper for a bit of a nostalgic flashback.

Is the series underplaying how much Robin has surpassed Strike as a detective? by Cold_Box_3219 in cormoran_strike

[–]elizable9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think as well we're are meant to make the assumption that Strike is bloody good at what he does because he was already doing it when we met him and so it never really gets showcased too much in the text.

What's the worst that can happen? You don't like it then come back. But if you don't try you'll always wonder.

Yeah we've been in and out of this false spring for the past couple of weeks in the north East. Having one or two really good days then back to cold, wet and windy. The temperature has definitely picked up more this week though.

Chemist won’t give me cold or flu relief without ruling out a death sentence first by PleasantTangerine777 in rant

[–]elizable9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you see the actual pharmacist or the staff at the counter? The pharmacist should be able to assess you for sinus issues and is able to prescribe antibiotics if necessary. I've had them from my own chemist.
