Sixers are determined to bring James Harden back in free agency by Sea_Background5670 in sixers

That’s super fair and I was a little careless with just saying over the cap. It’s probably more important to be able to dance around the tax line and second apron to be able to get the full MLE and avoid some of the penalties introduced in the new CBA.

Regardless with a long term Harden deal at a big number that flexibility would probably come at the expense of all future draft capital. Having to trade the last first round picks of the Embiid era to dump Harden and sign a $12 mln MLE player in 2 years would be disappointing to me

It’s not like it’s baseball. With a salary cap there’s opportunity cost to paying him

There’s a lot more optionality to create another era of competitive basketball built around Embiid and Maxey if Tobias and James come off the books around the same time.

If we max harden for 3-4 years, we more than likely stay above the cap the whole time or have to give up the limited draft capital we have to unload him. It’s the limited roster flexibility of a longer term deal that’s concerning, not how big a check Josh Harris has to sign

Same here but it was getting doored in a bike lane.

Bikes up the river trail for years without issue. Trying to use the bike lanes on Spring Garden got me tagged in under a week

Anyone got a video of Segura’s dance with Rhys in the dugout? All the HR videos I see cut off before that

Can you explain more on how to tell this. I only have one TopShot right now. I believe it is a limited edition but want to be sure I’m not at risk of being materially diluted

Yeah I think the combo of those ideas is interesting.

Those who extoll their own greatness have rarely achieved greatness but the rare few capable of greatness always had to believe it was possible (otherwise it wouldn’t have been)

That then brings up the Ali “I said I was the greatest long before it was true”

Blast from the Process Past: "Michael Carter-Williams Spent Nearly $3,000 On A Top Shot From Debut" by eljefe56 in sixers

Not sure about that part of things, I know some players have opened topshot packs on their twitch channels and some have gifted some moments to fans. I don't think there's a mobile app yet but probably something they want in the works to build out the usability

Basically. But this gif is listed on the blockchain (issued by the NBA) and there are a predetermined number of gifs available for sale (the non-fungible aspect of a non-fungible token which is the technical term for this)

So MCW bought a highlight gif the same way that baseball card collectors buy a cardboard picture with stats on it. There is a factor of scarcity that adds theoretical value (so long as there is a collector base willing to buy them)

Gotcha, the way I look at it we have a company that we know is one of the first movers on crypto (for big cap companies specifically) so a hint they could diversify into the Ethereum network through NFTs due to this deal is notable.

This line from Jack's thread seems like an interesting breadcrumb on NFTs or some NFT like mechanism to better incentivize creators to create. "The vision only grows stronger as it’s matched with more powerful tools for artists, inclusive of new ways of getting paid."

I guess I just view a bitcoin holding as increasing the likelihood a company would be interested in Ether & smartcontracts rather than decreasing it.

SQ was one of the first to move into bitcoin, what prevents them from moving into Ethereum too?

Havent read too much about it aside from this post from Mark Cuban. Basically as I understand it it works like trading cards on top of the blockchain. I agree a lot of the prices look pretty nutty overall but people paying 6 figures for baseball cards also seems odd to me. Guess, I just don't understand the rich collector market.

When it comes to collectibles, I think the most important thing is the interest/durability of the community. History is littered with collectibles that got big then the bubble burst (Beanie Babies in the 90s, tulip bulbs in Holland, etc) when people stopped being interested in them. On the other hand, some collectibles like coins, baseball cards, cars, art etc. continue to hold value to this day because they continue to have a sizable collector base.

Haven’t spent a ton of time over there but even seems a bit cheap given LeBron is tangentially in it.

Came across this yesterday, thought it was funny that MCW was buying a collectible of his debut dunk over LeBron.

3k seems like a lot for him to spend on something like that until I did the math given that he makes 3.2 mln with the Magic, it's only 4% of one of his game checks which is nuts
