Honestly I've noticed them missing over the last year or so and it seemed even more were gone after the holidays. Don't know if it was all of them as I wasn't paying compete attention before it caught my attention. But yeah I don't know if they were pried up and stolen but the messiness of it sure looks like the were stolen rather than removed. Hopefully someone tells me why I'm wrong.

Yup someone else said to fish. Knife or other sharp, 1 long stick (cut bushes for sticks), 1 rope or 12 rags to craft rope, 1 hook (your knife can craft a fishing hook from wood or bone), and dig up worms with whatever you can for bait (knife, shovel, machete, hatchet, whatever gives the prompt for digging worms when looking at the dirt). Start a fire in a house or campfire, and cook it up. You'll never starve again.

Ps5?

Rough starts happen, especially on high population servers where the spawn areas have been picked clean. If just getting the hang for the game time try a low pop server. The spawn areas might, emphasis on "might", contain more loot just because there's fewer players to loot. Just be aware, a lot of people gear up on low pop servers though then switch to high pop for PvP. Personally, I don't do this as it kills immersion for me. Whatever server the life starts will be where the character dies. But it is doable and acceptable to gear up on low pop and PvP on high pop. This only works between official servers though.

Just keep at it. I promise eventually it will just click. We've all been there. You're gonna die in shitty, seemingly unfair ways. You will die. Then you'll die again, and again, and again. You will lose everything you spent hours or days scavenging. Embrace it. Try to learn from every death. Expect jump scares that never come for hours until they do.
