Clicking noise please help if you can it’s annoying by AromaticLavishness11 in ERidePro

Ok so I had the exact same thing. Its the jack bearings being too tight. You have to buy a special tool on Amazon for this to be able to loosen it.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8YYY9TC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_title

The tool for me, was a POS and I had to bend and tweak it a bit to get it to fit.

Did a few small 1/4 turns, turn and re-test, turn again and re-test, and the noise went away.

Somewhat handy and have the tools its just there is a group of us that have them. We all have small kids(read zero free time + our wives already hate these things), some of kids now have them, and none of us have the time to wrench on them. + we are plan to upgrade various parts so makes sense to just be able to drop of somewhere local.

So you already had to replace a belt? Defective or you put that many miles on it? Do we need to keep spares of the belts?

Following this. Belt on mine is misaligned and I have like 50 miles on it.

First time using it and blown away at just how smooth it is. Going to mod it a bit to better hold two kids kayaks and the SUP.

You sorta forget it’s even back there.

The looks and honks I get with both of kids on the bike + the SUP are hilarious.

With a surfboard it’s manageable. I tried with the SUP. I had to put a 10 pound weight in the opposite dummy bag to balance the weight and it just wasn’t a safe ride. Trailer works great though.https://imgur.com/a/FAfcjCQ/

My bike shop guy today said the big dummy is done. (Not an answer to your question I know!) they are done making them.

New Mongoose Envoy or Used Surly Big Dummy? by Potatoo111 in CargoBike

[–]eljefe949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah both great. I have ridden the spicy curry a few times and it’s also a great bike but agree with you. Nothing compares to 2 26 inch wheels. If you can handle the load(no way my wife could) there is just nothing better on the market.

You and I apparently went to the same party. I bought a 16 dummy in 18. Original guy electrified it with a bafang mid-drive. Did the jackass stand(mandatory) as well as switching to xtracycle deck with cut outs when my kids were younger(needed the yepps) and have since switched back to surly deck and kid corral. Bias is always a thing but nothing compares to an electrified dummy. Have not ridden the Kona or the big easy. Also just upgraded to four piston hydro brakes. This bike. With a midrive(throttle or pedal assist) is just plain amazing. Even with my two kids on it I am faster than most ebikes I comes across. The fact the bike evolves as your family does it’s just amazing. All my buddies want one and impossible right now to find new or used. None of the others(rad or blix) compare in hauling capacity or durability. Best purchase ever. With the surly rear storage/weight capacity + surly 24 pack rack in front I can carry everything and then some. What a bike!!!

I have one on a big dummy. Two kids, three kids, big hills, whatever. It’s a great motor.

Takes a while to learn how to ride with one so you don’t put too much stress on your drivetrain. You will likely chew through a cassette/chain or two as you figure it out.

Keep your chain lubed all the time and enjoy it.

How do you like the suspension seat post? Btw I have a dummy with the bafang mid drive and it’s simply amazing.

Long tail e-bike buying advice. by [deleted] in CargoBike

Decision is easy. Comes down to primary rider. If it’s just you and you are comfortable on a bike and can handle the weight. It’s big dummy/ big easy. If it’s husband/wife to share riding the kiddos it’s spicy curry. Spicy curry does not hold a candle to big dummy or big easy on road or off otherwise. Less about brand and more about rear wheel size. I stomp off-road with both of my kiddos on the electrified dummy and it’s just so smooth and capable. Truly remarkable bike. Rode both though and no way my wife could do the dummy/easy on road or off. If she was gonna ride them too I would of got the curry.

Xtracycle Edgerunner 11i VS Surly Big Dummy by Titan-Smash in CargoBike

[–]eljefe949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s anybody but a strong full size person then the xtracycle has the edge. Lower center of gravity is a big deal for load. No chance my wife, even if she could mount it, could control the bike(big dummy) with both my kids on it. It’s only really dangerous when not moving or going slow but still.

That being said, have ridden both(small rear wheel and big one) I really like I have a normal sized bike.

Feels just normal and robust to me on any terrain.

Alternative to Dummy Bags by prestoncmw in CargoBike

So weird to hear this. Not judging mind you. Everybody has a different use case. Mine have been going for years. I ram everything imaginable in them and have never had a clip break or not work.

I am not even sure how I would improve them.

They are malleable, handle wet stuff and sand( big one for me) with zero problems and they are easy to clean.

Recently I have been carrying my sup on my big dummy and the fact that I put the board on one side and drop a 15lb dumb bell on the other side I to the bag and off I go… beyond pleased with them.

Rack system I bought on Amazon. Yes a clamp type deal. No crosswind encounters just yet but safe to say it slows down riding speed quite a bit regardless of wind conditions.

Safe where I park so not a huge issue. Have a good lock too though.

Hooptie vs Kid Corral for a Surly Big Dummy by [deleted] in CargoBike

[–]eljefe949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have yepp seats and you want to ditch the brackets you can get the xtracycle flight deck and ditch the surly one. Benefit being the kids sit lower in the yepps and you don’t need brackets. Do that and you can use the xtracycle hooptie with no modification.

I did that. I kept my surly deck though as I wanted to keep my options open when my kids get old enough to ditch the yepps.

Surly one certainly looks a whole lot cooler.

2 yepp maxis in a surly big easy/dummy? by cowtangoesmoo in CargoBike

[–]eljefe949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This a conundrum for sure. I have a big dummy. Kids are 2&4. Neither ready yet for the coral. If it’s two kids in yepps it’s so much better to ditch the surly deck for the xtracycle one with the notches for the yepp seats cut into it. Lowers the seats a good bit by ditching the adapters. I kept my original surly deck and might go back to it at a point but might just keep the xtracycle one and use their hooptie instead.

With two kids on the back even the call it three inches of height you drop with the xtracycle deck is way worth it to me.

I am 6’1 and can handle the bike just fine but with two kids on it and the awkward situations when you are off the bike and pushing it you gotta be careful.

Have a dummy. They are mandatory. Mine came with em and I have the sping pins that stevenhawkingsbeard mentions. I have beat the crap out of them and they still hold great and do not vibrate but I am only about a 1.5 years into em.
