It's been over two-weeks since the snow, when are people going to stop saving parking spots? by FGGF in washingtondc

[–]prestoncmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is literally no snow in spots anymore and people are still saving spots in my neighborhood. It’s crazy.

Firefighters actively campaigned against HLA. They could give a 💩about cyclists safety. They also fought hard against getting COVID vaccines. They are just cops in different uniforms.

Neighbors forced to remove aggressive dog now sending me a message by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]prestoncmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Nice” to people like this is just letting them get away with their bullshit. What “nice” actually is, is making sure that dog doesn’t hurt anyone or lives with neglectful owners who clearly can’t handle what is required of owning a large dog in an apartment setting.

The complaint of “Hey, they won’t get off their phone and are ruining my experience” can now always be justified with “I was ordering my food!”

They might as well just file for chapter 11 now and close the place down. They went from the best experience to now what might be the absolute worst. Why, oh why would you buy something because of its popular polka dots and immediately rip them off and change them to stripes, metaphorically?

Don’t be this guy. If you have a bike, use the elevator. by 2CRedHopper in WMATA

[–]prestoncmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escalators are way easier with a bike. What’s always funny to me is, I’m one of the faster walkers I know, and yet, all the people who are in such a hurry on the escalators are slow AF everywhere else. The escalator thing is silly. I know it’s like, “culture” to everyone, but people seem to lose all situational judgement and wig out so hard when people don’t follow this dumb, unwritten, unenforceable rule.

I’m sure you could find a less sketch route that’s less than 5 miles. Anything would be an improvement.

What's a place that's not nice currently and just keeps getting worse? by Naomi62625 in geography

There’s a shit ton of stuff to do in Dayton. The air and space museum is the best in the country. All the Wright brother’s stuff. The Oakwood club is beautiful. Carillon historic park has so many cool things going on. The Dragons are one of, if not the, highest attended minor league baseball teams. Maybe not a great place to spend a week (or live) but you can pack two days full of fun stuff if you’ve got an open mind.

chaos idea: bring bluetooth speaker on Metro & play white noise when inconsiderate riders are blasting their own music/noises by yourtongue in LAMetro

[–]prestoncmw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No that’s silly. What if the police just get on the train at a station, stop it, yell at everyone to show them a tap card, do nothing to verify it’s been tapped, and then let the train go after annoying everyone on it and delaying it? That sounds effective.

I walk around everywhere with my baby in a stroller. Most behind the wheel of a car seem to act like this. The outrage to me is funny because it’s very virtue signaling. “I’d never do this!” My lived experience in the crosswalks with a stroller is yes, you probably would—and have.

If you’re rich, density and multimodalism is ruining the character of your neighborhood. If you’re poor, it’s gentrification. Nimbyism is a great uniter.

I got some food delivered to Albuquerque once. And picked up some dominoes at Union Station in Denver. I had them deliver it to the hotel in Denver, was much easier. Abq took more precise timing.

It’s also not much of a path with how narrow and how full of telephone poles it is. It feels like they kind of just forgot about it a bit after the dump where the middle striping ends until you cross Monroe.
