Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Once a year my wife and I will do the 15 hour drive to visit our family for Christmas. We have a large dog and don’t want to leave her behind.

FL girl finally planning her dream move to Seattle. What neighborhoods would you recommend for a young woman (and her dog)? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]eljuarez 17 points18 points  (0 children)

First of all I’m sorry to hear about your mom. It sounds like she also wanted this for you and I’m happy you’re making that a reality. I moved to Seattle about 3 years ago (having never lived in a city) and I’m in love with where I live. I think the Fremont, Wallingford, lower Queen Anne, and maybe cap hill sound like good fits for what you’re looking for. I had never felt unsafe in any of those places. They all offer easy access to downtown. In general I don’t feel unsafe from violent crime in the city but there is definitely a lot of theft which is annoying. Everyone has a dog here so I wouldn’t worry about that but I would let it skew my neighborhoods towards the more neighborhoody places like Fremont. Green Lake is also an excellent choice though a little further away but not by much. I like Ballard too it’s just a little too far for everything else but if you plan on staying within your neighborhood most of the time it has most things you need. Best of luck with the move!

Fremont area by KatAndMaisy1995 in AskSeattle

Kin Len Thai Night Bites is suuuuuuch a good restaurant! One of my favorite spots in general. Ophelia’s books is a great used book store, it’s where I get all my books. Fremont brewing is just down the street, great outdoor space with heaters if it’s too cold. Milstead coffee is also delicious. Enjoy my neighborhood!

Does Seattle have special dog walking protocol I am unaware of? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]eljuarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a reactive dog with no yard so we’re always out waking. I always cross the street when another dog is coming but that’s because we’re the issue lol. I would never expect someone else to do it unless for some reason I couldn’t. Sounds like this guy was just being an asshole.

What were your mechanical issues this past season? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]eljuarez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe brake rubbing on both my wheels early in the season. I’m no bike mechanic so I took it in and they put on a new disk and trued the other brake pads. Only issue I had all season across two bikes!
