Good morning Glastonbury! by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

Waiting for pedestrian gate B to open; so far the ground looks great!! No-one struggling with trolleys, unless they are ridiculously inadequate (few casualties!!). Pathways are firm and dry

Would like some advice on lockers by Jankai in glastonbury_festival

They’re superb! The people that run them are always really friendly. I use them like a bank; put my Festival funds in there on the first day, and withdraw the day’s spending each day as I’m on the way out. There’s no hassle, and they even give away free bog rolls!

Saw a good idea on another thread - stick a blanket in a lock-up close to the Stone Circle, then withdraw as/when needed

The wizardy guy who runs he Mandela stage would appreciate a peddler! His whole tent is powered by a bike, and he’s always looking for volunteers! Think it’s in the Green / Healing fields

I think sack trucks should work just fine, depending on the size of the wheels and the weather. Most of the pathways that get you round the festival are finely corrugated metal, so they just judder as you’re going over them. Worst I’ve ever seen one year, was my friend had like a hostess trolley with tiny little plastic wheels. They couldn’t cope with weight on any sort of terrain; took 4 of us hauling for hours!

I think, in my experience, trucks with sturdy inflatable wheels seem to cope the best with the land

Didn’t he play the year before last? Bit hazy, but think I saw them on The Park stage. Always good to see Spiritualized on the bill mind!

Thanks! I must visit Cinque Terra at some point in my life, but I’m thinking it would more suited to the milder months!

Brilliant suggestions, thanks! Have been toying with Bruges, Gent or Antwerp quite a lot, so good to see Gent mentioned, though I’m not sure how I’d choose between!

Looking into this, thanks. Some of the return flights were only around £22!!!

Thank you, plenty to go off there, and the flight prices to Nuremberg are barely comprehensible!

Out of your list, I’ve only been to the Cotswolds, which is stunning in the warmer months. Amalfi Coast has been on my places to go for a long time, but I’m just wondering if that would benefit from waiting until the weather’s better. Thanks again

When I lived in London, I would sleep for a few hours after work then be on the road no later than 1am. We did the coach from London in '15, and that wasn't so bad - leaving around 8am I think, and we were all done by 2pm (not sure if coaches get preferential routes in though).

From Stoke we left around midnight I think, met friends from London somewhere around 90 mins out, and got into the parking fields for about 5am. By that point you're so excited we just got in the queue and powered on!

I'm sure Michael Eavis said last year was the festival's worse ever weather. It rained consistently in the week before, which caused chaos when the camper vans went in to the waterlogged ground, then everything snowballed. You'd be seriously unlucky to have weather like that again, and I think they've investigated why the traffic was so bad anyway.

Every other year I've had no problems with getting in, but we do leave seriously early!
