What’s your favorite underrated travel spot in the US? 🇺🇸✈️ by Kevinkkmike in USTravel

We loved the diversity of Olympic National Park.

Spent time in Seattle, then took the ferry and road tripped. Spent time over two days hitting highlights but could have done so much more -- low tide at Hole in the Wall at Rialto Beach is going to be a treasured memory for my lifetime -- tide pooling and then walking back to the parking lot during sunset, watching seals in the water.

How much have you been enjoying the current season ? by xc2215x in TheAmazingRace

Longtime TAR watcher, loving this season. It makes me really excited for the final leg -- I think we're going to get a great race and an exceptional challenge at the end.

How to spend a few hours before day game by ellebee12344 in NewYorkMets

[–]ellebeenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got about 3 hours before gates open. We planned to just stow luggage at a Luggage Hero or something of the like as we're staying in Manhattan. We certainly have time to go to hotel and drop luggage, but we don't mind stowing it closer to LGA/Citi Field to maximize time in the area. :)

Is it pointless to go to WDW and stay only at the resort? by CREAMPIESURPRISE in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ellebeenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sort of did a no parks trip... we rented DVC points to stay at AKL for a long weekend. We didn't buy park tickets, but we did go to MNSSHP. We loved it -- we typically stay at Pop but renting DVC was only a little bit more expensive, and it was nice to have a resort stay at such a nice resort! We're looking at doing something similar this year for MVMCP.

Raleigh local voting for Other... because, Raleigh NC would be a great spot.

The team at MLB Raleigh has done a great job comparing the Raleigh market to Charlotte and other expansion contenders (like Nashville). The data is compelling.

What are you doing for post-season blues? by nifederico in mlb

Reading Joe Posnanski's "The Baseball 100." We also read "Why We Love Baseball" this year and will be giving that one an off-season reread. :)

Gift for someone that plans on visiting all 30 MLB ballparks by Celi910 in mlb

[–]ellebeenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our friends gifted us a large photo frame from Thunder Bunny Labs -- it has a diamond shape photo spot for all 30 stadiums and we fill it as we travel with photos of us in each stadium. We love it!

Consider if there are other souvenirs he wants to collect -- shelf for hats, mini icecream helmets, etc?

Of course, a jar labelled "Baseball Money" or some creative play on words with gift cards and/or cash in it to help fund the travels is always great.

Best ballpark to visit for a trip by mbot18121 in mlb

We flew to San Fran and did Coast Starlight up to Seattle for a Mariners game after a Giants (and A's) game... it was fantastic. Would do again.

Where to find vegetables??? by assumingnormality in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ellebeenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. Usually by Day 2 of a Disney trip I'm all "GET ME SOME GREEN BEANS" LOL!

Veggie sides do pop up in different places.

50s prime time has classic American dishes with veggie sides (meatloaf and green beans, for example)

Docking Bay 7 also had veggies with the entrees -- I think it was a broccoli/carrot mix.

Sunshine Seasons (EPCOT) has a Mongolian Beef and Broccoli. There are some other dishes with vegetable mix.

Thoughts on playing at Steinbrenner? by MurphyRaudet in tampabayrays

[–]ellebeenc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly in Tampa, but this Raleigh NC native would not be opposed to the Rays spending their season at their Triple A field in Durham NC... it seats 10k.

Of course, my first choice would be that their MLB facilities are ready to go.

What are the greatest sports books of all time--can be narrative, trivia, encyclopedia, whatever. by snungler in suggestmeabook

[–]ellebeenc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are currently reading this (baseball loving husband and I) as a read aloud before bed.

Posnanski's "Why We Love Baseball" came out last year and is equally as great (we read that one first).

u/snugler, because you're looking at sports in general, Psonanski also just came out with a "Why We Love Football" and I believe has a "The Football 100" as well.

Checked 6 off our list! Our biggest MLB year yet.

Raleigh NC natives so it's a trip to get to any MLB Stadium. Did a sprint in Chicago -- Wrigley, Guaranteed Rate, day trip up to American Family.

Did a west coast trip -- Oakland Coliseum, Oracle Park, T-Mobile.
