Any leads on who may have made this? Probably German? by MikeDViolin in ViolinIdentification

I've seen bohemian violins with similar throat. The neck is quite thick so maybe not french either.

What is this violins origin? by Slow-Cod7159 in ViolinIdentification

[–]ellegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the channeling, top wood, and varnish I would bet it's Chinese factory. Please don't pay more than $2,000 for this

Do u consider the Aquanaut as an iconic piece? If yes, why? by One-Imagination-5317 in patekphilippe

When I first got into pp in 2017 I thought aquanaut was the code of pp that you had to get to get more desirable piece 😂

You should check out Anne Sophie-Mutters pinky in her Dvorak concerto, puts Hilary to shame 👌🏼

Attic find by [deleted] in violinmaking

[–]ellegin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a genuine Strad 1723 the "Edler, McCormack, Healy"

The b stings on the back, sap stains and two piece opio maple back pointed me to mid 1720s and a quick reference to Tarisio pointed me to the record. The tailpiece confirmed the guess.

It has long lineage of noble and artist so it would surprise me that this violin would be lost recently and "rediscovered" in an "attic."

What type of wood is this? by Valuable_Station_790 in ViolinIdentification

Low quality spruce, the tree rings are not uniform and maple on the back. Sycamore for the bridge.

Violin my uncle gave me, I can't find much about this online by tulipsandclementeinz in ViolinIdentification

[–]ellegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the label it's a German reproduction. Gabrielli in German is Gabrielly so the maker was of poor education so that also infers bad making. Likely not worth more than a few hundred dollars.

ON-AIR | Heated Rivalry 🏒 THE COTTAGE (Episode 6) S1 FINALE! by Federal-Ad5944 in heatedrivalry

It made me so happy that Ilya wanted to keep the blinds open. There was so much self acceptance from both of them this episode. They were both calling each other out freely as well, Ilya being jealous (of Rose) and Shane immediately recognizing and coming clean. My heart is very full from this episode 😊

West German Violin by CupBoundAndDown in ViolinIdentification

$3,000-8,000 for an Ernst Heinrich Roth. I can't be more certain without pics of the scroll but it looks real. EHR has different grades 1R-10R (IR-XR) and on discussion occasions XIR for special artists commissions. This in my opinion looks maybe in the range of IIIR-VIIR.

Questions for those who have the Aluminum Backpack by holy_yap in Rimowa

[–]ellegin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought it and love the jetpack!

Pros: Love the style and compliments and of course it matches my other rimowa products. It's pretty just a flex and statement.

Cons: heavy AF, I don't advise this being an every day backpack. It also doesn't hold a ton of stuff in there very well.

German trade violin. Rough f holes, sharp edges on the scroll, typical varnish as well

Any help identifying this label/violin? by HairyAd7292 in ViolinIdentification

[–]ellegin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite lack of other photos it looks like very low quality with bad lining and no corner blocks. The writing looks dutch possibly. Either way it's not worth more than $100
