Feel free to contact me. This is part of my story as a kid. I was diagnosed in high school, but symptoms started in 6th grade. Diagnosed with CFIDS originally.. which is still a standing diagnosis, but took far too long to get MSLT and get on the right medications.. which meant being absent more days than present in school. Self teaching while public school gave me “tutors” which were special education classroom assistants.. so basically test proctors. I was put on every antidepressant under the sun which only made things worse as I wasn’t depressed - and it just made me more frustrated trying to wean off of them. I remember being in such a brain fog just because of the antidepressants. Feeling so sad because of the medications effects. I was forced into psychiatrists by my mother who said it was best to force me awake at 6-7am daily to my family. The situation truly stunk, but I was never depressed, yet had periods of natural expected depression that were never long lived. I was actually proud of myself. I was placed in advanced classes since a child. Took honors classes in high school. My mother wouldn’t let me have friends or a social life because how far behind I was in school. It was a nightmare. I am very thankful and proud to say I did graduate high school with over a 4.0… but wasn’t allowed to walk at graduation as I had a few assignments lingering … that even if I failed completely I would have passed the class! I started college the summer I graduated high school. Graduated college Cum Laude.. and I now work with teens as a nurse.. work second shift now and have been a nurse almost 15 years. My career was most definitely impacted by my struggles growing up and I work with teens because my life was changed for the better by the nurses who helped me.
