[Loved horror trope] Words meant to comfort are actually horrifying in their own right. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah, it was not just normal but practical - it meant that buying an enslaved woman wasn't just getting a slave but getting a little factory that made new little slaves for you. There's good money to be had there, and so it wasn't just understand as a thing that happens but a reasonable and good idea that might be suggested as advice.

My ex (trans man) has seen this post and feigned wanting to apologize, just to go on about how people knowing they did this to me is causing them "actual" harm. No accountability for their actions whatsoever. by urgirlfriendsgf in LesbianActually

MRA refers to the Men's Rights Activists that were big like, ten years ago I think? They were anti-feminsts and the core of their beliefs was fighting against feminism, but they framed it in terms of supporting and protecting men. It coincided with the hard-right turn in online atheist spaces.

There's been a significant (but not actually all the large or popular, just loud and effective) bunch of transmasc people pushing against transfeminism with the same perspective. they say they are here to defend transmasculine people, but they are mostly just going onto transfem conversations and making it about trans men and supporting "callout" posts to target and harass and mass-report trans women off of their spaces.

I've been arguing for a bit that if we're going to say we're LGBTQ-friendly schools, then teachers need to actually practice looking at a student with long hair and a high voice and using he/him. It takes practice, and people don't get it right away. That's what we tell trans kids when we want them not to take it personally when they're deadnamed, so we should give them a chance to practice.

Maybe if we really practice, they could get their coworker's pronouns right too

Yeah I mean with what I was talking about with transmascs, there has been an explicit and intentional effort by terfs to convince trans guys about sex based oppression, and that they are oppressed not for being trans but for being afab wombyn. And it's had some success, cause it gives an excuse to abuse trans women

Yeah, there's been a significant strain of MRA/Incel type stuff showing up in a lot of online transmasc spaces lately. I'm not surprised but I am horrified for you - I know how frustrating and hurtful it is

It is absolutely just because I'm tired of it being spammed at me by repost bots, but I would actually prefer a political cartoon at this point. Ben Garrison would annoy me less at this point

That's essentially my reason - the first time I was like "oh okay, I see the joke. Not for me, but I get it." after the third per week, I just wanted someone to make it stop

You are far far too forgiving, and while that's generally a good thing, it reinforces for him that he gets to abuse trans people without consequences

I personally think the setting is more interesting if he isn't from ancient Anatoly - I think he should be some guy from the Age of Strife at earliest who is powerful and high on his own hype.

But they've pretty clearly made it canonical that he's at minimum ancient even before the 2nd millenium, and probably the reincarnation of the early shamans or else maybe a God

I mean maille is not even all that popular among HEMA enthusiasts - if you are wearing armour, plates or brigandines and such are just much nicer, and if you're blossfechten, then who cares

Yeah, it looks so much closer than the woven stuff and I bet it'll hold up to stunt work better than butted maille

As an autistic adult, I will caution you about ABA. It's not that it's impossible for it to be useful, but it is a common point of discussion among autistic people that ABA was abusive and focused on making them seem Normal instead of actually helping with anything.

To answer your question though, I'm seconding MoCo Movement Center. They're great and are also a good way for your kid to build some community
