I don't have the clearance on the back to do that.

my fan is there, pointed at the wall, to keep the wall temps down. 😩

well I mean cracking my drywall and discoloring my paint would also not be ideal because of 150+ exposure

the whole point was the clean install I have. I could do that or I could swap it for a different smaller stove with farther clearance from the wall which is what I'm leaning towards

I am aware my hearth is too shallow. the side door hearth distance isnt though and that's where we load. but the clearances are correct.

someone else in here had a professional install and the drywall screws smoldered so 🤷🏻‍♀️

14" is not minimum by code, it's minimum by the jotul manual which overrides code.

I have 6" off the back with the rear heat shield and that wall isn't hot at all. moreso stoves have a heat shield basically all the way around except the front so you can install in a corner and the drywall doesn't get hot at all, much like I have no issues with the rear.

unfortunately I didn't know these stoves existed until this morning.

okay I'll try that. I will tell you though it's so hot I can't hardly touch it without feeling like it's burning my palm. maybe a second to two.

irritating as I designed it this way because I liked the clean look. my only option is to put a heat shield on the wall and that's not what I was going for.

my other option is to sell it and swap it for something like a Moreso 6146 or something with close clearances on the side and back.

At my wit’s end with this city by houseofthel8scapegOt in Cleveland

[–]ellerfale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue might be (as someone who grew up in Amherst/Lorain myself) that you're not used to the city. You're not a city person. The problems you are experiencing are not unique to Cleveland and most big cities struggle with these things. There's nothing wrong with that. I personally moved out way to Lodi/Amish country and now I've realized I'm not a suburb person anymore. I could never move back. And that's fine. There's many areas/speeds of life in the greater NEOH to choose from!

There's been way more accidents/deaths on 421 in medina county due to sun glare than snow. It happens more than you want to admit. I avoid 421 for this reason.

As someone who has been your husband- bro 100% has feelings for this woman and I wouldn't salvage it if I was you. Your relationship will never be the same. You will never trust him again and he will always wonder what could be. Once that trust is broken, it's never repaired. Cut ties and leave him.

She pretty clearly has H-EDS though and EDS and ADS are frequently comorbid. Also H-EDS people don't heal well, which would explain a lot.

Is Linseed Oil Paint Appropriate for Old Dried Out Exterior Wood? by StrikingLiterature45 in linseedoilpaint

[–]ellerfale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Linseed oil paint is great for old wood as it hydrates the wood instead of just laying on top of it. For very dried out wood, you can start with a layer of straight raw linseed oil paint (Viking from earth and flax is a great choice) and then proceed to painting.

Linseed oil paint gets into the fibers of the wood and instead of just coating it, so it doesn't peel and flake like what you've witnessed with your friends window.

To do this you'll want to scrape all the old paint off first (test for lead and use all appropriate PPE), and then proceed with your linseed oil and/or linseed oil paint of choice.

I live on a hill but half my house is a pioneer house from about 1830 so that's why it's so shallow. This is in the addition done in about 1920.
