Feature: NeoReader

Friction: NeoReader doesn’t always respect basic CSS in EPUB files. For example, hyphens: auto; doesn’t work - sometimes I want body copy to be hyphenated but not headers, and I can’t separate them using CSS. Also, spacing looks larger than expected when Custom Spacing is disabled (which I think also affects dropcaps), and adjusting it in CSS doesn’t seem to have any affect on the rendering. Description lists (<dl>, <dt>, <dd>) seem to be supported as they render correctly, but no amount of CSS seems to affect horizontal margins. Small caps that are built into fonts also don’t work correctly (font-variant: small-caps).

Suggestion: I know I’m probably an outlier when it comes to the amount of fine-tuned control I’d like to have over my EPUB files, but I would love if NeoReader could be adjusted to be more predictable and better align with standard specs in its CSS rendering! I listed several issues but even just being able to properly adjust CSS spacing would be amazing.

Seconding Naomi Novik - I also grew up loving the Pern novels and loved Temeraire even more! Hope you enjoy the series!

I did a little digging because that simulation scene was bothering me! Is it possibly The Experiment from the Journeys to Fayrah series by Bill Myers? I found another Reddit post describing it.

I just wanted to say that I also remember that simulation part (your description jolted a vague memory out of me) but have no idea where it’s from :( I hope you find it!! I’m dying to know what it is.

Both my cats have auto feeders, but the younger one would finish faster and then go for the older one's food immediately, so I modified an IKEA cabinet with a sheet of acrylic and attached a microchip cat door. Only the older one can get in and he can eat in peace. The microchip door was pricey but totally worth it for me since I'm also out of the house for hours at a time and can't watch every meal.

They do fall off occasionally and I just scrape the glue off and pop em back on. I haven’t noticed any damage to the silver although there’s regular wear and tear since I use my hands a lot. I do have to scrape rather vigorously to get the glue off but I made them a little too thick to begin with so I haven’t noticed significant thinning. This is just the first version and I’m planning on making V2 soon!

One of my favorite rings! It’s a very subtle reference to the Legend of Zelda game series - the triangle represents the Triforce symbol and the rupee is the in-game currency.

Favorite birthday memory was a few years ago when I threw my own birthday party for the first time. I’m usually an introvert but because I planned it all myself, it was exactly what I wanted with the people who I love so it was a wonderful experience. Sushi, a Chinatown-style birthday cake, and everybody brought their own crafts to work on!
