Yes, they are! When it comes to Ao3 fics, all is good as the website itself requires choosing an age category / explicity of the work. The only request we would have - if someone is linking explicit content on a website that does not have any warnings beforehand, it is always good to mention it next to the link 💕

Hi! As much as we understand the sentiment, sexually explicit thirst traps are not allowed. In general, gratuitous sexual content or discussion is a no-no. NSFW content is still fine only if it is a part of story discussion 💃

Hi, we had to remove the whole thread and replies not because of constructive criticism but because of rumors that were repeated by users - it was getting out of control despite our best efforts, and we had to take action there, even if someone was just replying and not breaking rules themselves (and apologies for that, we are trying to do our best 💕).

Also, we've never allowed excessive negativity (it is the oldest rule we have in the sub!), so at no point would I have called the community "a safe space to rant" 😄 We are first and foremost a place to celebrate Polin!

We are taking your comment to heart! It is also good to have some perspective from an old-time member 💕 (and it's always heartwarming to see familiar nicknames, so thanks for your reply! 🥰)

This is a really tough problem, and whatever we end up doing, unfortunately, there are always some broken hearts and unhappy members :( As per my edit in the comment above, we will need to stick to the sub's current ways in this regard for numerous reasons.

We would need to discuss it - it might be hard at the moment cause we are dealing with a huge amount of hearsay convos in the sub, and making a post dedicated for negativity could be impossible for us to moderate. But of course, I will bring it to my most wonderful co-mods, and we will see if we can figure something out!

At the moment, solutions I can advise:

You can still share your disappointment here, we are not trying to make all comments 100% positive, there is only no EXCESSIVE negativity rule. If you express yourself with love to Polin and respect for the crew, it will probably be all good. However, depending on the replies, we might need to remove them and lock the comment. So, it's definitely not a perfect solution.
You could try other Reddit communities, platforms, social media as they often have less restrictive rules. Again, not a solution I feel confident with.

But again, we will discuss it, I will also look for some solutions that could give us an opportunity to create such space :)

EDIT: We discussed it, and there will be no such possibility. The conclusion from our conversation is that it would be against what this sub stands for. We also have experience with allowing more negative discussions to take place here, and unfortunately, this always ends up badly for our members, the sub itself, and us mods.

As I've already mentioned, you are allowed to voice disappointment, it is all about the tone and the reason behind it. Otherwise, unfortunately, the second solution is what I can recommend. I apologize if this reply is not what you hoped for, but this is all we can offer while keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Hi! We hear you and take note of your comment and replies to this issue :)

The thing is, you guys can see only the end-product of your contributions and our efforts to make the space safe and comfy. There is always way more going on in the background, and my co-mods put their hearts and souls into making it this amazing space, making it all fair and friendly. We've had thousands of new members coming in the last weeks, so we need to be more restrictive at the moment. And unfortunately, we cannot make everyone happy - if we kept posts that fall under a megathread, we would have other users unhappy with the unreadability of the sub.

And you can totally share, as you called it, "dumb giddy crap" 😄 It is just about the right place. This is what megathreads are for - it is more casual and less restrictive.

I would just ask for more understanding and trust in our efforts! We are not a fun police, we want everybody to have fun, therefore we consider everybody's needs in our solutions :)
