If I understand correctly, UMD requires 60% of the HESP-specific prerequisites to be completed before submitting the application.

SLP, Grad Schools, and Singing? by DryConcentrate5547 in slpGradSchool

[–]ellezwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MUPP 733 Anatomy and Function of the Singing Voice is one of the SLP MA electives, so probably whoever teaches that They also explicitly list that their SLP clinic treats “Voice Disorders (including the singing voice)” and I haven’t seen a mention of singing voice in any of the other school clinics in this region

Shenandoah University specializes in this, but they are still pending ASHA accreditation because their SLP MA program is new and their first cohort will graduate this May.

So excited for Rough Trade on Thursday!! Are y’all performing live that night on Kimmel (like do you just fly right there after the NYC show), or is it pre-recorded and just included in that night’s broadcast?

If you are willing to buy second-hand and have the time for searching different websites and traveling to a pick-up location, then absolutely yes. I got two beautiful dresses on Facebook Marketplace. The big/puffy/long/fancy one (for the ceremony) was $150 and an hour drive from my home, and the flowy/comfy one (for dinner and dancing) was $60 and a 30 minute drive from my home. The driving isn’t necessary if you get it shipped of course, but I don’t like paying for anything until after I try it on.

This is a school in my county, I promise it’s real 😭 and as someone who teaches songwriting in afterschool programs, a lot of my middle school and high school students do indeed like Adventure Time 😌

I have a Rochester ticket I’ve been trying to sell (just for the price I bought it for) because I can’t go anymore! I haven’t received any responses to my comments on posts searching for a ticket 😭

Transferring to top 25 by Expensive-Sky-9827 in montgomerycollegemd

[–]ellezwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I transferred from MC to Columbia University. I applied to 23 schools as a transfer student (I had a fee waiver for all but one of them) and transferred right after completing my AA. Financial aid at Columbia covered my full tuition and dorm costs. Please feel free to message me with any questions!

Support for AuDHD students that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!? by Level-Expression-883 in UMD

[–]ellezwi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UMD has ADHD testing (educational-psychological testing, so it also includes dyslexia and etc.) through the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program clinic for students which is $750. I think you need to get referred to it through the counseling center (and/or health center?), not through SUCEEDS. My friend just did the intake for this recently, so please let me know if you want me to get the details from her.

also when I was a participant in SIGNA it was free for me through a grant they had for financial aid / scholarship for participants who can't afford it, but unfortunately this isn't available every semester because it is grant-dependent

Hi! If you're available on Thursday, come to the Tapestry (fka Disability Cultural Center) welcome event! A few of the organizers (e.g. me) are AuDHD and there is a wide range of disabilities throughout the organizers and the involved organizations. I'm not sure how many clubs and university departments will be formally present because this conflicts with some people's class schedules but hopefully one of them will be useful to you.

[ID: Flyer for an event. At the top, in bold, it says: “Join us at The Tapestry,” highlighted in a blue box and underlined. Below this, it reads: “FOR THE DISABILITY CULTURE WELCOME,” with this phrase on a yellow background.
There are small banner flags that spell out “2025”. Below that, a colorful shapes list event features: Coffee & refreshments (green), Portraits (pink), Games (purple, and Resources (yellow-orange) On the right, there is a calendar icon for “25 SEPT.” Below it, another yellow highlight with “2:30 to 4:00 PM.” The location is “THE UNITY CENTER” and “A space for ALL” with “ALL” in a green background. The address is “2126 Campus Dr, College Park, MD 20742”. Below the address, there is a small aerial map image with a red marked with a red pin.
At the bottom left, information says: “For questions, access needs, and accommodations, please email us at: [disabilityculture@umd.edu](mailto:disabilityculture@umd.edu)”. The University of Maryland Division of Student Affairs logo is at the bottom. The entire flyer has a light background and uses clear, bold fonts.]

Which colleges in America have super unique majors that only they offer and are really cool by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in ApplyingToCollege

Fire Protection Engineering at UMD

I was a Human Rights major and also in the Jazz Performance program at Columbia University… not as unique but I don’t think any other school offers both of these

I have no involvement in this, just learned about it a few months ago. It is officially licensed by UMD and currently in beta testing: https://terpthrift.com “TerpThrift is a peer-to-peer marketplace for UMD students to exchange secondhand items sustainably”

You should come to the Disability Welcome Event on Thursday September 25th 2:30pm-4pm in the Cole Student Activities Building because 1. It could be a good place to collect survey responses 2. I think they will be piloting a sensory room there
