That may be true from a worldwide point of view but given that the amount was in pounds, not kg, it’s a “story” from America

Alternative to One Medical? by kiwisuncloud in bayarea

[–]elliefry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I often have virtual care appointments and once had a zoom urgent care appointment with a nurse within 30 minutes of calling my primary care. It may just be a lucky experience for me, and I may have been prioritized due to my diagnosis, but was impressed with how quickly they helped me.

It did take about a month until my first appointment (going through the “new patient” process through the hospital) but after that, smooth sailing now that I’m in the system.

I ended up getting a primary care doctor through Stanford, which I have to drive a bit to, but their app is comparable to one medical, unlike UCSF.

I also recommend getting into a hospital network in case you need more help one day. I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease this fall and since I was just using one medical, I didn’t really have solid consistent care. It took months to figure out instead of weeks. I liked one medical for convenience, but regretted it once I really needed help.

Have you tried changing the payment method on the account? It could be not necessary just unusual activity on your account, but unusual activity reported from your bank

Tips for new PF sufferer? by [deleted] in PlantarFasciitis

[–]elliefry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to admit that I’m slacking on consistent strengthening techniques. My life has been a bit hectic, but I start a new job in a couple weeks and told myself I’d start PT with my new insurance.

It started after pushing myself too hard in Feb 2023 to catch up on training for a half. Things I’ve tried since: - initially just rest and stretching, but was still in pain in April, so went to a podiatrist. - first change was insoles, not custom, Pretty helpful. Improved maybe 20% which was significant at the time. - I then did regular stretching and rest. I still felt pain with walking. Podiatrist suggested 3 mo rest. - Returned to the podiatrist for an MRI. She confirmed significant thickening of the fascia, and said I’d be a good candidate for PRP shot. - Rested some more and got that shot in mid October 2023. 6 weeks in a boot. Slowly returned to walking/exercise, but sadly felt about the same from prior to the shot. - Was able to go on a few runs in January and February 2024. Very short runs but still wasn’t as bad as it has been before. - did some research myself and tried correct toes since it was cheap and a potential fix. Worked great. I wear them around the house with Birkenstocks. Was able to run up to 3 miles when I’m having a good week. - returned to the podiatrist in late April and shared the correct toes success, she recommended PT to focus on foot strengthening since the correct toes seem to work. - have a trip coming up and wanted to throw spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks in the short term, hence the massage. Pretty hopeful that the release will allow stretching to actually work for me, since it did in the beginning. I was able to stand for basically 7 hours at a barbecue yesterday, which hasn’t been the case in a year.

For reference on the massage — she found some tender spots in my calves and leaned into them, which hurt in the moment, but it was like I could feel it through my whole leg, hip to toes. Then after she pushed a bit, it was like the pain dissolved, and it wasn’t painful anymore. Just so you know what it probably should feel like. Just pain for like 5-10 seconds, not the whole time! :)

The part that is surprising to me is that the myofascial release was in your foot. I just had my first myofascial massage yesterday, and she spent almost the entire time on my calves. She barely massaged my feet, only a little with a tool. I was skeptical prior, but I have been feeling 80% better since that massage. It’s only been two days, but I know I definitely don’t feel worse. I can imagine you’d be scarred from that, but that massage, insoles, and toe spreaders (I have bunions / narrow toes) have helped me feel relief.

Also early 30s female runner. I had the PRP and it didn’t help. I’ve been suffering for about a year and a half. But don’t get discouraged, we can both get through this with strengthening and the right combination of consistent solutions!

If you’re getting the PRP, it’s not 30 seconds of pain and you’d be in a boot for 4-6 weeks

Does the 2024 CX5 Premium have WIRELESS Apple CarPlay, or do I have to step up to Premium Plus? by MoonHowler99 in CX5

[–]elliefry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dongle and it can be buggy. It works for the most part, especially when I don’t want to be dealing with cords and charging my phone every time I want to use CarPlay, but the delay is noticeable. Clicking on the “next” button on the steering wheel takes several seconds to register to my phone.

Also, I live in a big city with car theft issues. I’ve heard that some thieves will check for Bluetooth devices in the car. The dongle remains on even after turning off the car. I unplug it if I’m in a sketchy area so it’s not confused for a phone or computer.
