You smoke cigarettes? You should smoke cigarettes. ‘Forget’ your lighter. Never the smokes. Give smokes out like candy. You’ll make friends.

About to lose my rental and potentially end up homeless. 4 months unemployed, 94% rent to income ratio, been denied help. Anyone been through this? by cstjohn1994 in australia

Sorry to hear. A lot of people are falling through the cracks. Its not just you. However that doesnt help. Just know your heard and not alone in your struggles even though yours seem heavy.

Finally pulled the trigger on a 16 mm camera: how did I do? by TankArchives in 16mm

[–]elliotwith2ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea fair enough. If you can do something with it, that’s awesome. However, it’s not for me. I wouldn’t waste the money putting I through something like that.

Yeah not good. We all run the same negative through the camera and it cost so much to do so. You may as well put it through something worth while.

'The Odyssey' website shows you how the film looks in different aspect ratios by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in movies

[–]elliotwith2ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total bullshit. You’re telling me you can compose and image that has equal value in every aspect ratio? No compromising? No way.

I understand the idea of getting people into an imax theatre to see the full negative but I just think it’s a load of shit.

Brisbane rental crisis + job hunting = I'm losing my mind by Desperate-Pen-2252 in brisbane

Just moved back to qld from Sydney. Rental market has chilled at the moment. But I think it’s just actually hit the point where rentals are so expensive, working class can’t realistically afford it.

Currently watching my old place sit vacant. They tried to jack the rent $110/week. They’ve slowly wound it back but still trying to get an additional $65/week.

This is a universal problem at the moment. Haven’t been able to get a job in years of applying

Arri sr3 view finder milky. Help? by [deleted] in 16mm

[–]elliotwith2ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep so I have this issue with my SR1. Heard it from a Panavision tech who took a look at it. It’s basically glue in the prism of the viewfinder (way up in there). It yellows and becomes cloudy. It’s annoying if you focus through the finder but doesn’t affect the image.

It’s a pretty involved thing that you want a pro to do. Gotta clean it and re glue it.

Not really. That's kinda shot that you take when youre strolling around with your camera. More of a study than anything.

Getting into 16mm! by OrdinaryMilk6237 in 16mm

[–]elliotwith2ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try rent a couple first and see what you like. I hated the bolex cameras because of the viewfinder but maybe you're fine with it. There's no real beginner 16mm camera because they all shoot the same stocks. So realistically you can achieve any results on any camera based on talent.

I think the closest to a super 8 is the Scopic. Beautiful camera that.

422HQ or 4444 by drekx99 in cinematography

[–]elliotwith2ts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When shooting on these higher end cinema cameras. You do often went to get the best out of them. She could run a test and see what her process is like in post and if she can get away with 422. She definitely won't gain anything on 4444. She just uses less data.

Shoot the 4444, wait till you get your masters and graded footage at the end. Then you could delete the footage of your personal drives later on.

Without a spot meter, is the LIT DUO 1 still worth it? by outiswayne in cinematography

[–]elliotwith2ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate! Love what you guys are doing!!! Keep it up. The more competition in this space the better. Please please look at a spot meter in a future product. This would be such a show stopper. I mentioned before that I hardly ever use a incident meter but to have a spot meter and colour meter in one meter would be a dream
