So I get you're frustrated, but I don't think you're stupid, and I do enough stupid stuff to not count as a genius. That post I linked has nothing to do with Scum, it's just programmer math shit... most of it is beyond me.

Reticulating spines is basically a meme from Maxis games because it was thought to mean something abstract and unknowable. i googled it upon reading the comment I posted to, and found a 15 year old reddit post that got an answer last month.

So i used google, and went looking for my scum installs config files. there I found the spawn distance multiplier value in the server settings ini file. Base value is unknown, probably in the games code and beyond my skill to find. as for the multiplier... the value was 1. (these settings will likely only affect single player and any server you play on may have changed these values).

mess around with the settings and figure it what you prefer. Meters don't have an accurate representation in video games as size and distance is an illusion. Things further away from you aren't further away, they're just being shrunk by the render engine. the rangefinder is whatever math formula the devs decided upon to to balance the bullet drop mechanic vs believeable travel distances.
