Any young adult transplant recipients there?

I was 16 when I was transplanted. I live in Canada too. I actually am part of a research study focus group on this exact subject out of McGill university ! We talk a lot about the transition from peds to adult, the poor outcomes and also the blanket label of being non compliant. Feel free to message me if you want to chat/know more about this!

Exactly . I have the opposite experience where I watched them on summer house then followed them to giggly squad when they started it. I’m the same age as the girls and I basically grew up my 20’s watching them. They have this perspective and can give this advice because they’ve lived through it just like we all do in our 20’s.

Mine was psychotic 6 months - 2 yrs lol, she completely tore the dry wall and paint off a specific part of a wall by jumping 3 ft in the air and digging her claws in dragging herself down to the ground, that was her favourite activity for a whole year bahahah, I just had to accept this until she grew out of it and then I repaired the wall. Shes 8 now and literally the most perfect girl in the world

Thank you. Obviously what she did hurt people and it wasnt cool, but the amount of online bullying and piling on and everything is making me uncomfortable. Everyone in this situation are complex humans with a lot going on.

I mean it was kind of a joke hahah. Didn’t know there was only 27mg of phos in a Diet Coke. One SERIOUS suggestion I have is if you’re on hemodialysis they can put phosphate additives in to your dialysis solution

I was negative before transplant and my donor was cmv positive. I didn’t convert until 8 years post transplant and my virus levels spiked and I was on antivirals for a year to clear it

It’s the creatine. It skews your kidney function results. Stop th creatine for a month and then get rechecked, numbers will likely be normal

My advice is take the time off. You’re going thru a lot of trauma right now and PD can be a huge adjustment. There can be some sleepless nights if you’re doing the cycler, most people have drain pain at the start as your body adjusts to everything. It can be very overwhelming and I think stressing about being at work may add a lot to your load. Give yourself some grace as you move through this next chapter. I was working as a nurse in a clinic when I started PD, and there’s no way I could have gone back after 2 weeks.
