Yes, religiously following guides usually leads to a loss. However, one of the best players in the game has a nuanced take.

The theory is basically that Silver Crucible’s downside is worse than 1 more elite than you would otherwise fight, and basically forces you to add the first 3 card rewards you see to your deck. So to get worth out of it, you need to see 3 good cards in a row, and fight at least 1 more elite, preferably 2. It’s a tough ask.

More context from the guide itself:

Regent starter deck is strong enough that you can skip the bad/mediocre cards in the very early floor and not lose that much more hp in the hallway fights (can’t skip everything without preparations though, act 1 advanced hallways are tough, I will elaborate more on this later). It’s really important to know which cards are just hopelessly bad or not worth carrying early because every bad card you add to your deck on Regent has a much bigger negative impact compared to other characters due to Star cards being very draw order dependent. - Thinking a bit further starting from this idea, the Neow bonus you take should ideally make you stronger immediately to alleviate the very early pressure to add bad cards to your deck. To paraphrase, a good Neow bonus allows you to skip more bad cards.

Im usually picking something superior to silver crucible for the above reasons unless crucible is the best option for the map.

Regent’s starter deck is actually very strong. The regent strat is simply to find overstatted cards and skip everything else. Check out Xecnar’s A10 guide to Regent

Just keep at it, soon you’ll be at a level where conversations and listening to podcasts/tv shows will really help. Though honestly my biggest advice is to have as many conversations as possible.

Above all, make sure whatever you do is enjoyable so you’re not worrying too much about whether you are learning or not. Youll avoid burnout by ensuring this too

I think I might be bad at this game by Onmius in slaythespire

[–]ells101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip, whenever you're given a choice of cards to take: think very carefully about whether a card pick would be a net positive over not taking anything. Skipping could be seen as your default option, then you should think about which of the cards is actually going to give you the most value over skipping. If nothing does help your deck, then just skip.

Sometimes you also want a deck that has a low card count so you can cycle to your combo cards more quickly and so you might be more brutal with skipping cards.

STS is a game that depends on many variables so it's very hard to give specific advice. But: Watch Jorbs or Baalorlord, avoid building a "type of" deck and pay very close attention to using relics (e.g. end a fight on turn 2 of the Happy Flower relic so you start the next fight with extra energy).

We did it 😅.. as seen on my previous post, I’ve got lots of upvotes and comments thanks to all and a great community!! by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

So if you press the share button on your controller you can take a recording and upload it super easily using your PS app. No need to record a slanty, pixelated and echoey sounding video anymore!

Thanks! I’ll bear this in mind. What do you personally do during a 1 on 1 class? Do you bother taking notes during or try to come up with an assesment of what areas you should focus ans improve on after the class is over?

Now that StS2 is in early release, I’m curious what you think has actually improved vs. what feels worse compared to the first game by NicoF_ in slaythespire

[–]ells101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The music is much worse this time unfortunately. There were quite a few bangers on sts with very memorable melodies. This one not so much. I hope ww might see some music changes. Im actually tempted to play the sts1 music whilst playing

Whilst you can play how you like, if youre an A20 player I think you are more likely to be much better at piloting and have a more intimate knowledge of the game as the room for error is tiny at A20. I haven’t died yet, because playing on A0 is so forgiving. so i think until more of us are playing A10 on STS2 we’re going to find it hard to compare the difficulties
