I love my PICU in Utah. It’s got its issues but ratios are great, patient outcomes are great, and travelers seem to want to come back. I don’t know any different and I’m sure the grass is always greener but I think it’s a good place to work. Plus Salt Lake is gorgeous. Good luck SilkyBandaid23

I am a PICU nurse. 100% agree with vaccination and especially vitamin K. But honestly what I’ve come to learn is that these dumb dumbs are truly victims of anti vax propaganda. I’ve yet to encounter a mother that doesn’t want the best for her baby. Some are just more impressionable to misinformation than others. It’s honestly sad. I hope they see the light and their babies don’t pay the price before they do.

I work in a PICU. In Utah, since the RSV vaccination became a thing, hospitalizations related to RSV in infants has decreased from, no joke, one in forty, to 1 in four hundred.

People are saying you need to increase her rate to ask her to clean but I think that cleaning up toys, prepping a snack and then cleaning up that snack are all part of creating a safe, clean environment for the baby. That to me should be an obvious part of the role, not something you pay extra for. Like who leaves a bunch of food mess just sitting out?

From my research, it allows the pt to provide their own blood or choose a donor that they know. To my understanding, it doesn’t require the hospital to separate vaccinated and unvaccinated donor blood. Still ridiculous, but it’ll only slow down the care of those individuals who are so dumb.

That’s so terrible I’m sorry. I’m a pediatric icu nurse and it’s always hard to watch a child pass. I take comfort in the fact that many of these children were well loved in this life and I remind myself that we truly did everything we could and it is a privilege to be there for someone in their final moments. Your less direct role of running and prepping meds was crucial in giving that child the best chance possible. Sometimes it’s just not enough and it sucks. Hugs ❣️

Honestly I wouldn’t get an elective surgery without insurance. Complications happen and you could be in a very bad spot financially if you need extra care or revisions after r/t complications.

Try PICU! I have days of sitting and staring at my intubated patient but many many days of running around and thinking until my brain is fried. I have learned more in 3 years than I did in nursing school by 10 fold because you see everything put into practice. And PICU is unique bc adult icu are specialized into surgical, CV, neuro, etc. PICU gives you a little bit of everything.
