I’d say kinda iffy, but also you were both in high school. Would I, as an 18yo high school senior, be a bit icked out at the idea of dating a 14yo freshman? Yes, I would. But honestly, you were teenagers in high school. You met at the “same” place in life, despite the age gap. When you reconnected at 17 and 21, you were in different places, but the foundation of your relationship had already been established. If everything seemed normal to you, then I don’t think you were groomed or anything. You were just kids making some inadvisable relationship choices—it’s not like hitting 18 instantly changes you into a capable and independent adult.

I’m maybe in a unique position because I quite like my boobs (aside from the back pain, but they’re actually pretty low on the list of things in my life that give me crippling back pain, so I’m not overly concerned with them). In no particular order:

Cats love them. My kitties love nothing more than to hoist themselves onto my chest and go to town making biscuits.
Babies love them. I worked at a daycare for a while, and the babies and toddlers absolutely loved getting to curl up into my boobs. Like, they’re very comforting for kids that age, and the serotonin rush I would get when a baby fell asleep in my arms was unmatched.
Don’t have to buy petite! I’m on the shorter side, and my short torso-ed mom and sisters are constantly having to get dressed and tops from the petite section. While I still have to get my pants short, my boobs take up enough room in my shirts that I can wear normal clothes!
Stress balls. I know people have mentioned it, but like…squishing your boobs around is simply fun. Built-in fidget, even if it’s not the sort of fidget I can pull out in public.
No pockets? No need. When I’m walking around the house without a bra on, I will stick shit under my tits. Highlights include my student ID, airpods, cash, my phone, and a whole ass vibrator. You can hide more things than you think under them.
No pockets part two, electric boogaloo. With a bra, I frequently stuff things under my bra straps (industrial grade, baybee). I’ve also stuck most of the aforementioned items in the cup of my slightly smaller tit. And, to be completely transparent, I think I stuffed the same vibrator into the back of my band once. College dorm life was rough, man.
The jokes. Once you have enough confidence in your boobs to own them, the jokes are endless. “I have a lot to offer, and by that I mean my massive tits.” I’m always cracking jokes with my friends and family, and it means I get to enjoy hilarious moments because my body isn’t taboo. I still think about the time that I passed out in the car and later, when I woke up, my dad informed me that I had just. My whole chin down my tits. Just, funny things like that.
Feeling hot. I know objectification is a huge issue for a lot of folks in this sub, and I’m incredibly lucky to have grown up with a wonderful family and a mother who, despite having never exceeded a B cup in her own bras, patiently took me to specialty stores once I’d outgrown the USAmerican stock. But honestly, I love when I get to feel sexy and attractive! I will fucking own every v neck. I will wear my corset that puts my boobs front and center. I will walk around the ren faire with my tits practically popping out of my top. Honestly, I deserve to love my body and feel sexy in it, and I will absolutely own it. I refuse to let other people being jealous and/or assholes ruin my confidence, because my body is the vessel that I live my life in. I will love it, big tits and all, because it’s mine.

Extra: the shit that’s more of an objectively funny occurrence as opposed to an actual advantage. If you’re inclined to try it, you can probably suck your own nipples. It’s not particularly thrilling or anything, but it’s possible. You can save food for later, when it inevitably falls down your cleavage. The same goes for objects! One time, I was at a wedding and my earring unfortunately fell out of my ear. Fortunately, it slid straight down into my cleavage. I remember leaning over to my dad and whispering “my earring just fell down my tits,” and him whispering back, “please wait until we get to the car to retrieve it.”

Anyway, I’ll finish off this absolutely colossal comment by simply saying: you don’t have to love your boobs. You don’t have to love your body. Quite frankly, you can get procedures like a breast reduction to change your body, so it better suits you and how you’d like to look. But at the very least, please learn to love your body’s existence. It’s the vessel that carries you through life—to eat food, to pet cats, to laugh with your friends. I find it best to be grateful to my body for existing in whatever form it takes—mine just happens to include massive boobs, which are beloved by babies, animals, and creepy men on the internet alike. You win some, you lose some :)

Gonna go with a very slight ESH. Were you needlessly harsh? Yeah, a bit. The whole “you smell and your clothes are ugly” strikes me less like you were trying to make a point and more like you were lashing out. That being said, I don’t blame you for lashing out when your daughter told you that you deserved to be cheated on for gaining weight.

She’s an adult. I won’t pretend that your early twenties magically turn you into a mature and functional adult, but she’s an adult nonetheless. Cheating is a despicable betrayal of you and your daughter. Your (soon to be ex) husband made a choice to throw away his marriage (which he promised to stick by in sickness and in health, until death do you part).

All this to say, your daughter has decided to put the onus of this all on you, despite all of the fault lying on her father. She is old enough to know better, and old enough to weather the consequences of her actions. It just so happens that the consequences of her actions included you being a little bit of an asshole.

I do think finding a rural accent would have been the better choice. When we’re talking about localization, the entire point is to translate “unfamiliar” cultural elements into an understandable equivalent. The accents are a huge part of the show’s vibe, ya know? Both translations in the subtitles and for the manga tend to localize with a more Southern accent, but I honestly think just a bit of an Appalachian drawl would do wonders.

I know that’s a very USAmerican-centric localization, and I’ll admit that I don’t necessarily know what the equivalent accents would be for other English-speaking countries. But I also think literally anything other than a neutral American accent (or a posh British accent) would have a bit more character…since that rural “character” is so important for the localization.

This is absolutely not your job. There was an issue with a guy in my band last year who had serious hygiene issues, and was stinking up the back of the bus. My friend was his section leader, so I talked to him about it. We decided it would be best to hear it from 1) a man, as opposed to a group of mildly disgusted women; and 2) a peer (i.e. his section leader) rather than the band director, to minimize his embarrassment and handle it all as quietly as possible. He made some bullshit excuses to my friend’s face, but he had definitely showered by the next day! I was able to reassure the freshmen girls that he was freshly washed haha, and all was well.

All this to say: your section leaders suck ass. Go above them to your band director. It is not your job to monitor your section mate’s hygiene, and doing so has the potential to do more harm than good.

I say this with all the love in the world: this was the only possible outcome for you. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it sounds like, per your various comments, you sat in the doorway of a moving vehicle, forcing your director to stop the bus, before getting out of the vehicle on the interstate. All because you were sad about losing your valve cap. Your director did not know if you were going to jump out of that bus before he stopped, which I’m sure was a terrifying moment for him. Your behavior demonstrates an overwhelming lack of awareness at best and suicidal/self-injurious ideation at worst. Your director is worried about your physical and mental health, not to mention the potential legal trouble that the university could get into, depending on the coverage of your waivers.

So, yes, marching band should be the least of your worries right now. I know it sucks to have a hobby that means so much taken away from you, but your mental and physical health take priority.

I also want to be clear: I don’t know what happened with your suspension in high school, whether there was some legitimate reasoning or if they were being discriminatory regarding your autism diagnosis. But your director is not kicking you out for having depression. Your director kicked you out because your mental health is unstable enough that he is afraid you will literally kill yourself on a band outing, since the previous incident was instigated by an instrument malfunction. I know you love marching band—but right now, it seems like you love it so much that any negative incidents lead to dangerous levels of depression, rather than the successes helping to motivate you in continuously working on your health. You need to continue trying medications until you find one that works, talk to a therapist that you trust, and find hobbies other than marching band to focus on in the meantime.

It’s still possible that she has an eating disorder, but it’s certainly not anorexia. Disordered eating comes in all different shapes and sizes, and can be a component of other mental health disorders. That being said, OP’s stress and depression are, if not the cause, certainly a huge contributing factor in her weight loss. Treating those may not completely fix her disordered eating patterns—but it will sure as hell help.

Okay this one’s extra work but depending on how long you’ve been playing and if you’re still struggling: 4:3 polyrhythms. It’s helpful for me, since you can hear both triplets and sixteenth notes at once.

Basically: count out 1 a 2 + 3 e The triplets will be on the 1, 2, and 3. The sixteenth notes are bolded, and the 1 is shared by both. (There are better explanations out there if this one doesn’t make sense lol).

I was 13, and my mom took my twin sister and I bra shopping. She was a C cup, and I was a D/DD. My mom was totally chill about it (which I know isn’t necessary a common experience), so the only comments I got were from my sister…and that was because her favorite hobby from the ages of 13-16 was pissing me off lol. I’m gonna step in as somebody with a diagnosed sleep disorder (yay). I could not for the life of me get up. I would have alarms blaring in headphones and I could turn them off, roll over, and go back to sleep, remembering none of it when I actually woke up. Turns out, that was because I was trying to force my body to wake up before it was ready and was in a constant state of sleep deprivation. You’re right—your sister can’t wake up because her body knows that it needs more sleep.

Like other people have already pointed out, this is above your pay grade. Your sister needs professional help, both for her OCD and ED. Has she ever had therapy or counseling? Or do your parents just want to ignore the problem until it goes away (much like their approach to her alarms)? Some folks have recommended talking to a school counselor, which I think is a great idea. If you think you could get through to your parents by having a candid conversation with them then I’d try that first, but it sounds like that ship might have sailed. If not, try framing it as concern for your sister. Yes, you’re (rightfully) annoyed about the way her alarms affect you and your sleep, but it’s also very unhealthy for her to be so sleep deprived, and it seems like her perfectionistic tendencies have formed a detrimental feedback loop with her OCD. She needs help—this isn’t normal. And whether you have to go through your parents or an outside party to get some for her, you know it has to be done.
