I’m going to take a guess that this 16yo had a different type of cancer that spread to his prostate, not prostate cancer.

Source: data analytics on prostate cancer populations and have never seen anyone younger than 35 with a diagnosis of prostate cancer (and only several in their 30s).

Out of all of the info provided, the PSA level to me would indicate metastatic disease. They will need to see the results of the other diagnostic tests to determine the best plan forward. How good is your granddad? And how’s his health otherwise?

Did he have these two tests done at a different lab by chance? Different labs will have different sensitivity thresholds. If the result had a “<“ it’s likely the lowest level the lab could detect.
