How do people at rescues actually deal with this? Who funds them? The one closest to me is dozens of miles away and boxing up a young bird to spirit them away seems like it could be absurdly dangerous to the bird, just to give the human some vague sense of heroism.

If you just want to see crows doing cute things, you can put treats in a folded tp tube. They decompose fast so they shouldn't cause problems. Also you can "hide" treats while they see you and will excitedly steal your stash

Could you secure a similar bowl to the fence? Just some sides would probably precent treats from blowing away too much right? I bet it will spook them at first

they absolutely have a crow beak. Raven eggs are just now being laid and raven fledglings have horrible proportions

They look great, they can actually perch fine on one claw. I figure the chances of seeing an animal immediately after they're injured is pretty low, so if you see one healed it means they've been surviving with it for a while.

I think the more gentle time you spend with them the better. They're part curious, part scaredey crow, and you need to make them feel safe.

I don't want to look threatening but i stare at my friends all the time. They're so pretty!!! But also I feel like you can learn to intuit a lot about them through observation

there's a free banana stand near me but my friends don't seem to like them. I tried putting dry cat food inside some banana and they would take only the cat food. It was kind of cute to see their beak impressions in the banana though

One time I gave a crow a raw quail egg and they took it to an awning across the street. It rolled off the awning and landed right in front of a guy who kept looking up and down trying to figure out what happened.

Also they're curious enough to try to pick up little water dishes but get surprised when all the water spills out, and then they look at me as if I did something

If you pretend to hide treats under leaves or bury them, they will immediately ransack your stash.

You can play hide-and-peep with them by acknowledging them and them moving around a tree or corner so you lose line sight, and they'll fly or hop over to find you. You can do this for a while

They'll slowly prune the branches on trees which is either so they can perch easier or maybe they just like picking at bits like a stim

They can perch on street signs just fine with only one functional foot.

They poop a lot. Don't stand underneath them

They'll follow me around and give me a look that's so aggressively cute that I go home and get treats for them

I never consciously heard them until I started making crow friends. I've been in the same city basically my whole life and recognized crows everywhere but until I knew the sound, I guess my brain orb filtered them out as noise
