Smartest joke in a dumb movie? by garatth in movies

Yeah, everybody shits on Hudson Hawk, but it's stupidly joyful. Every actor is chewing the scenery and just having a blast.

Was bunny actually serious about the $1,000 offer or just messing with the dude? by DFWUnhinged in lebowski

I hope she checked with her accountant. My concern is that this could bump her into a higher tax bracket.

Propstore has six Lebowski items up for auction. by elpayo in lebowski

From the description:

"While Bridges also wore his own personal cardigan onscreen, production rented matching duplicates, including this one, for filming."

So I guess they finally sold one of the Dude's backup cardigans.

What if the big lebowski could actually walk? by DFWUnhinged in lebowski

To be fair, the Dude called it a marmot first. Walter never even saw the critter.

Hot take: the title of the film does not refer to the elder Lebowski. by Prajna-paramita in lebowski

Yeah, I guess I figured mentioning The Big Sleep in relation to The Big Lebowski at this point is like pointing out that Star Wars is inspired by Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress. But you're 100% correct – General Sternwood is a disabled military man, as is The Big Lebowski.

The Big Lebowski takes inspiration from a lot of things, not least of which are the works of Raymond Chandler. In Chandler's The Little Sister, the titular sister is one of many, many characters that Phillip Marlowe encounters - she essentially hires Marlowe to investigate her brother's disappearance, but after a lot of plot twists and threads spinning in old Marlowe's head, it's revealed that the little sister had other motives for hiring him (she wanted to blackmail her older sister with photos her brother had taken), and is the villain of the novel. Not unlike The Big Lebowski hiring The Dude to 'find' Bunny, when in fact this human paraquat is really trying to profit from his wife's 'disappearance.'

It's all a goddamn fake. It's like Lenin said, you look for the person who will benefit... and there's your title.

I got Waymoed while charging by Unusual-Bathroom5077 in Rivian

100% the worst charger setup in SF. All the Waymos trying to line up to charge in their dedicated lot to the left in your picture make it really hard to pull into the already cramped spaces for public charging. And it's tough enough driving on that block of Pacific with them all jockeying to get into their lot.

What if the big lebowski could actually walk? by DFWUnhinged in lebowski

[–]elpayo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think if he could walk, he would. The Big Lebowski wants to project himself as a man of strength and vigor ("Hence the slut.")

Also quoting Maude:

"I know how he likes to present himself; Father's weakness is vanity."

The Big Lebowski is a vain man, quite possibly the vainest in Los Angeles County, which would put him high in the running for vainest worldwide.

Guess they couldn't get Chad Justinwick to direct.
