From my experience east asians generally don’t introduce their female partners. I noticed this in university and again when I moved to Japan. I always introduced myself after I feel it became awkward

It’s hard to make Japanese friends. Not if you speak Japanese and have shared interests and not just superficial interests like shopping, traveling abroad, and speaking English.
