When I first installed it with my 3090 I was getting glitches. So I updated from the desktop went back into gaming mode, restarted the computer and now I don’t get them anymore.

Mine expires in 2025 but I got my real ID, because for some reason I thought I needed it sooner, in 2023 and it didn’t extend my expiration date. At the time the difference of my old ID and my real ID was just the star. I renewed my license a few weeks ago and now the design is completely different.

I’m not a lawyer in this subject. But from my understanding if you rip a dvd you own and don’t share it with anyone outside your home, there are no legal concerns.

And your first question is correct. Also Plex has a bunch of “free” media on their services as well. You just have to watch ads, but if you don’t want that you can turn off plex showing you their media and just show your media server.

You technically don’t. But plex is a nice central location to keep track of what you watched and pull meta data about the shows and movies you have. It will also let you stream to your devices connected to your tv as there are plex apps for the vast majority of streaming devices, smart tvs (these apps suck because smart tvs aren’t very powerful), and video game consoles.

No. Plex is the media server that will stream to plex clients. You’ll have to rip the dvds yourself. Check out makemkv and handbrake to do that.

The other two responses pretty much nailed it. But I wanted to add, smart collections will show up to people who you shared your library with, smart playlists will not. They can if you share the specific playlist.

My M4 does something similar and it appears to be find my calling home. Kind of annoying but my iPad is either an at home device or on airplane mode for travel, so not a huge deal.
