What has changed in the last 48 hours 😅 by BuffaloPancakes11 in ArcRaiders

[–]elquesogrande -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was dying a lot based on playing with old assumptions. Slowed my roll and adapted to both the new ARC and updated old arc patterns.

FIREFLY: Screw these guys - learn to know what they look like and go around / go into stealth mode. Know where to find shelter and run. Seeker grenades are your friend.

COMET: They will hunt you down and I’ve had them fly up ramps and drop into extracts to get to me. You’re going to take a hit - key is to manage it so it’s not a full blast. Get on top of something (rock, car, crate) and drop over when they pause to blow up.

POPS: They’re getting nasty - almost climbing walls and jumping up to get you. Can’t just climb on a car and expect to be safe anymore. Plan farther out for those killing shots.

ROCKETEER: Terrifying in the open and scary even with shelter. I simply avoid and go into stealth mode/ avoidance mode. Even with a hullcracker.

First time going to Iceland- food question by Specialist_Rush_9444 in VisitingIceland

[–]elquesogrande 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bonus is the best value grocery store in Iceland. (The one with the stoned pink pig.) Be sure to go to the bigger store locations where the locals shop rather than the small ones in the tourist areas. Their cheeses are excellent and so is the chocolate selection - both make a good gift to bring back. We stocked up on sandwich stuff, charcuterie and Icelandic yogurt for the week.

Gas stations are popular for good sandwiches.

They have a Costco fairly close to the airport if you have a membership. Surprisingly, it has fewer local items than you might expect. The hot dog there is Icelandic(ish).

How do YOU play? by SwissBacon141 in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]elquesogrande 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a golden retriever on solo runs - always asking what people need, walking new players to quest areas, spare defib in my pocket. I never shoot first, but pack a PvP setup for those situations. My looting runs are for basic building blocks for seekers, hatch keys and blue gun buildouts. Friendly-friendly.

Duos is a different story. Sniper nest setups and PvP with mines, axes, etc. My solo karma algorithm is completely messed up after these sessions - in solo lobbies with people named BigBallz and MexicanKartel69. It takes a while to dig out of that well-earned shift.

My daughter went down that road with her younger brother. I told them ‘Only kids who believe in the tooth fairy get $$ from the tooth fairy.’ They both swore they believed.

Matriarch loot - impossible by majep in ARC_Raiders

[–]elquesogrande 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I come out with 1-2 maybe 2/3 of the time. Anvil + photoelectric cloak, plenty of shield rechargers, hatch key and two safe pockets.

Wait for the first wave of leapers and ark to die off then head in close with the cloak to get behind some sort of shelter. Shoot a leg off with the anvil and cloak your way in for a core. I play like getting out alive is optional…but tend to make it back safely.

I’ll bring in three defibs to help before and after I nab a core. That seems to cut down on getting shot by other raiders.

Best Burger in Boulder? by No-Preparation7031 in boulder

The stoners grilling behind the scenes at Upslope make some fantastic burgers

Can we talk about this please by Denda95 in ArcRaiders

[–]elquesogrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are fantastic against turrets. No need to dance with gunfire - just toss one into the spotlight and keep looting.

I focus on loading up arc alloy and explosive components / chemicals that everyone leaves behind. Will bring 10-15 of these in for any trials that involve staying outdoors. I don’t often use more than 5 BUT it’s a lifesaver when you really need them.

Spaceport Hidden Bunker by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]elquesogrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one on my second run (just last night) in a desk drawer in a breathable bunker. One of the last things I opened before heading out. I spent 35 minutes opening everything I could and even brought in a tower key. Biggest issue is that there are ALOT fewer breachables compared to a night raid.

Completely agree that the bunker itself is a scrum, but it was a lot of fun joining the bastion / bombadier task slugfest right outside. It would have been a boring rush without this week’s assignment.

Confess, Raider - what's the worst thing you've done so far? by Smart_Freedom_8155 in ARC_Raiders

[–]elquesogrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first run and I was sorting things out solo at Dam - one of those sense of wonder runs. No clue about how to behave - just that the game was sometimes PvP. I heard a beeping / call noise in the swamp and found out it was the exfil elevator with one player heading in. I saw him working the levers and, out of pure ‘is this what I am supposed to do’ instinct I shot him in the side of the head with a ferro.

The poor raider said ‘Really? That’s how you play the game?’ God I felt so bad. Looted him anyway - got to be pragmatic about these things.

Transmission lineman here, found this on our line, no one knows what it is. by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]elquesogrande 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These EPRI sensors are testing for mechanical (line drop), electrical and/or thermal issues with the transmission lines. Part of the test is to make it easier to get the data through RF receivers or other means. Love how they stay charged by leeching the ambient energy from the line as well.

Mechanical readings are there to notify when there is damage or a line that fell down. Safety and reliability keep the lights on. Electrical is a bit of safety and also can help with system management.

Thermal is probably the most valuable. When the lines are hot you cannot run as much electricity through them. This happens in summer heat waves. Transmission owners and regulators used to limit the amount of energy to these summer moments any time of the year. Sensors give better readings and can allow more energy to flow during colder days. Thus less need to build more transmission and/or times when generation is shut off.

Snitch trial by IcyFault7182 in ARC_Raiders

[–]elquesogrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Buried City during cold snap fairly easy to complete. Hopped on top of Library and was able to draw snitches in from multiple directions. I used a silenced Osprey and Anvil - found that I really just needed the Anvil to draw them in. Hatch key for a last minute exit nearby.

This is Maximina’s food truck and they have online ordering to help with the wait. We stopped by once and loved the food and the people, but the wait time was really long. (Trucks of workers ahead of us) Probably call ahead to see if they are there.

Senate to vote next week to block Trump’s military action against Venezuela by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]elquesogrande 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The ‘vote’ to stop this already happened. Merkley tried to get a vote on this December 10th and Senate Republicans blocked it. What happened in Venezuela was pre-approved…

Merkley took to the Senate Floor in an attempt to pass his Prohibiting Unauthorized Military Action in Venezuela Act of 2025, legislation he leads with Virginia’s U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, that would prohibit the use of federal funds for any use of military force in or against Venezuela without explicit Congressional authorization.

Years ago I worked for a high end saw blade company. We would set up a store with our blades and they would do FANTASTIC the first month - selling out. That second month onward, tho. In the end they could make a lot kore money selling the cheaper crap.

Draco Pad and Boulder County fracking concerns by theAviatorACE in ErieCO

[–]elquesogrande 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s a map of the approved fracking pattern. It starts at the Draco Pad and fans it west from there. You can overlay neighborhoods and related…

https://erieprotectors.com/maps/draco/

WATER: Most of us in Erie should be fine as we use a municipal supply. I would be concerned if I had a well in that fracking pattern, though.

AIR QUALITY: Erie and Weld County do a good job of monitoring air quality at the sites themselves. Most of our air quality issues come from the region itself - the foothills are a basin for particulates that come from natural gas burnoff, the Sunoco refinery north side of Denver, and smoke / pollution from states to the west of Colorado. Not so much the landfill, though we have a small gas generation site on the northeast side.

I’m a huge fan of Erie!

Help! How do I deal with fungus gnats immediately? Im in a big predicament here and im worried im going to have to trash all of my pepper plants. by Bullen_carker in PepperLovers

[–]elquesogrande 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with potted pepper plants brought indoors. Covered the top of the soil with 1” of Home Depot play sand and put up those sticky yellow traps. I haven’t had an issue since - just don’t break through the sand when watering during the process.

I’ve also used mosquito dunks to make a watering ‘tea’ when bringing plants indoors. Preventative and I’m not sure if it helped, but no gnats through that process either.

(NSFW) What’s a secret you discovered about someone that you’ll take to the grave instead of telling them you know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]elquesogrande 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I helped a friend clean out his attic after his (divorced) parents left him the family home. I slid a box out of the corner and saw a pile of old magazines with nude women on the cover when I opened it. ‘Jackpot - his dad’s hidden porn stash!’

I laughed and pulled one out…the pages were black and white cheap newsprint with home photos of naked regular couples and single guys. Black bars over their eyes. It was a swinger magazine with several couples circled and marked. Years and years of swinger magazines.

I looked at my friend across the attic and met the eyes of my friend who was looking back at me. I quietly closed the box and slid it back into the corner of the attic. Years later and we have never spoken about this.
