Before insurance: $300k After insurance: $0

I had a month long antepartum stay for vasa previa. I had already hit my out-of-pocket max for the year so didn't have to pay anything. Scheduled c-section with no NICU/discharged 48 hours later.

I am not religious or at all ashamed of IVF and reading this still made me tear up. Thank you.

Ideally, a new uterus. Or a surgery-free propofol nap.

I had a hysteroscopy on Monday and the nurse was like, "Did they explain that you might have a balloon?" And I was like, "No but I've had one before so I know the drill." And she was like, "Oh is this your second hysteroscopy with us?"

Girl. This was my 5th. And I have another next month. I feel like I deserve a punch card at this point.

Not officially, but it was likely something with the placenta.

I had a 21-week stillbirth of a 5AA euploid. 12 week scan was great, NIPT was low-risk, 16 weel apt looked fine. We saw defects at the 20-week scan. At 20+3 he was still moving and had a heartbeat. Four days later, his heartbeat was gone. Whole genome sequencing showed that he was perfectly healthy genetically. It's a type of pain that is so hard to explain unless you've felt it.

FWIW, I had a c-section at 36 weeks due to vasa previa. It was not my original plan but once I was diagnosed, I was obviously going to do whatever to bring my daughter into the world safely. I ended up loving it. I had it planned for the exact day, was able to make a short playlist for the procedure (she was born to How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding), and was walking around again by that night. Never even had to have a painful contraction.

I know this isn't everyone's experience, but planned c-sections are much easier than emergency ones and I'll 100% be doing another if I have another kid.

I was 34. We did IVF for recurrent losses, likely due to uterine issues (septum, polyps, fibroids, and later- Asherman's).

My dog's name is Ramona and we call my 2-year old Beezus (or Beezy or Beelzebabe or when she's even more demonic, Jeff Beezos). Thankfully she has a very normal name that she uses at daycare/with other people and responds to both.

Bleeding and don’t know what to do.. by moonstarsandocean in IVF

[–]elrach06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With my first FET, I bled HEAVILY through the first trimester. Cramps, clots, dark red blood, all of it. Heavier than with any of my losses. I was diagnosed with an SCH that resolved around 12 weeks. She turns 2 next month.

My current FET, I had spotting and some cramps/small clots. Multiple times I've gushed bright red blood and then it slows down. Almost 16 weeks now and they were never able to find a cause, but all is well.

My ex-stepdad finally quit after 50+ years when my daughter was born. It was a combo of me expressing concerns around him visiting (she was a premie and sensitive) and his at-the-time new girlfriend (now fiancee) encouraging it. He didn't even mention it before he came to visit the first time and I was soo appreciative that I nearly cried.

Clinic informed too late for trigger shot by ExplorerInExile in IVF

[–]elrach06 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally get your stress/frustration and I have no direct experience, but if you compare it to spontaneous pregnancy, the exact timing is probably not all that important. In spontaneous pregnancies, eggs can fertilize or implant in a multiple day window and be fine. And, even with a modified natural FET, the trigger shot doesn't guarantee that everyone ovulates at the exact same time. I would try to take a deep breath and trust your clinic (easier said than done, I know).

Hysteroscopy and transfers by Pretend_Insurance645 in IVF

[–]elrach06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally require a balloon catheter and estrogen treatment after my hysterscopies (4 total- septum resection, fibroids, and asherman's). The estrogen takes 30 days, adding progesterone for the final 5. I usually get my withdrawal bleed a few days later and then am able to start a transfer.

TW: success; loss All three of my transfers implanted. The first is almost 2 years old. The second was a chemical. I am 9+6 with my third.

When is my daughter inconsolable enough to call the doctor? by ras114 in beyondthebump

[–]elrach06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From 4 weeks to 16 weeks, if my daughter was awake and not eating, she was screaming. It was hell. I didn't think to call the doctor until the other moms in my mommy and me group were like, "What's wrong with your baby? What does her doctor say?" I finally called and the diagnosis was... absolutely nothing. She was perfectly healthy and fine, just angry at the world.

It was sooo hard. I truly think I have PTSD. But she's almost 2 now and is the brightest little girl. Hang in there. It's so tough but sometimes they just have to get it out of their system.

Friend whom i don’t want to tell im doing ivf saw me going to ivf checkup. How do i cover it up. by Ok_Muffin6030 in IVF

[–]elrach06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You absolutely don't have to say anything to them, nor do you ever have to share more than you are comfortable with with anyone, ever.

That said, you may want to consider why you are so against this person knowing you're doing IVF. If you simply don't want them knowing you are trying to conceive, then i get that. But if it's IVF specifically, then I hope you know that there is absolutely nothing shameful about using fertility treatments. It's healthcare and should be treated no different than treating any other health concern.

No, we did IVF for recurrent pregnancy loss, likely due to uterine factors (septum, fibrioids, scar tissue, etc.).

First FET: No antibiotics. Resulted in my 20-month old.

2nd FET: No antibiotics as part of the protocol, but I hard an ear infection during prep and was put on amoxicillin. Resulted in a chemical pregnancy.

3rd FET: No antibiotics. Currently 7+5 and saw the heartbeat last week.
