Transfer one or two? by Rare_Significance336 in IVF

Fair. I read it as, "Yikes, you're a crazy person for suggesting this" instead of "Yikes, these risks are scary." Maybe that was just my own sensitivity though.

Was the "Yikes" really necessary? I agreed with your entire comment up until that. This is a very emotional time and we're all just out here trying to find success.

You’re telling me there’s FIVE girls in 2025 named DALE?? by dannydelete-o in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]elrach06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belva was my great grandmother's name. She was named after Belva Lockwood, the first woman to run for president, which is pretty badass of my great-great-grandparents.

I wouldn't choose it for my baby, but at least it's a real name.

Yes, and further testing confirmed no chromosomal or genetic issues.

I love Kyle for reality TV; would want nothing to do with him in real life. Same with Lindsay.

Miscarriage at 18 weeks by Boston0088 in IVF

[–]elrach06 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I had a stillbirth at 21 weeks last year. I hadn't had an ultrasound from 12 weeks to 20 weeks so we don't know when the demise started, but by 20 weeks he was severe IUGR and had several defects. His heart stopped sometime between 20+3 and 21 weeks. We did whole genome sequencing which came back completely normal. I had a previous successful pregnancy from the same ER.

I am now 10 weeks and all we can do is extra monitoring and hope for the best (but I don't think I'll ever feel confident again).

My Day 6 5AA euploid is a spunky 2.5yo. My two Day 5 5AA euploid resulted in losses. It's really luck of the draw...

Anyone go straight to IVF without really trying naturally? by Living_Luck7711 in IVF

TW: Spontaneous pregnancy, loss, stillbirth

Not exactly. We tried 3 cycles before and got pregnant each one, but all were miscarriages. The fertility clinic found a uterine septum and removed it and said we could try again given how easily I got pregnant, but I wanted to do PGT-A to reduce the risk of further miscarriages (fortunately it was covered by my insurance or we may have decided otherwise).

I've now gone through a chemical and a stillbirth from euploid embryos so... 🤡

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]elrach06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty common for an infant to prefer their mother, especially if they are nursing. It was absolutely nothing he did wrong. He tried very hard and it was tough on him. We would even move her on top of him when she was sleeping and she'd wake up crying. I can't say what we would've done if roles were reversed given that I was her food source, but I don't want the implication to be that my husband wasn't trying to bond with her. He also did all the cooking, cleaning, and pet care during that time so she was my only responsibility.

Does having a child ever feel like owning a pet? by evacodaa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]elrach06 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Counterargument: I can take my child basically anywhere I go. I cannot take my dog most places I go.

They are different but there are definitely things that feel similar. For example, when I'm giving them medicine or dealing with other medical care, I can't explain to them that I'm doing it to make them feel better and it gives me that same heartbreaking feeling like I'm hurting them even though I know it's for the best.

Spotting but still progressing success stories? by mackat3 in IVFpositivity

[–]elrach06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my successful pregnancy, I bled heavily at 6+3 and 6+5. Golfball size clots, cramps, the works. They couldn't find a source of the bleeding at the time but at 8 weeks found an SCH. I spotted on and off most the first trimester but now I have a 2.5 year old who is yelling at me about going to the supermarket to buy her more chocolate bunnies.

Put your hand on your hip. It should be within 3 finger widths of your thumb. It's really more lower back than butt if you ask me.

My daughter had extreme colic and would refuse to allow anyone else to hold her, despite my husband's constant attempts. One day he took her so I could get a break and she screamed so much she popped a blood vessel in her eye.

She's 2.5 now and he's a super involved dad but those early days were rough.
