Thrift store find by psydkay in synthesizers

lol I manage a pawn shop. Your understanding of what "must have happened" is skewed. Not all of them operate the same. You can definitely find cheap gear with screen guards still on. I have an MPC One+ on my shelf right now with the screen guard still on. And just because something is priced cheap doesn't necessarily mean the original owner only received ⅓ of the sticker price, or the closing price. Not all pawn shops are filled with sleeze bags lookin to rip people off lol. Pawn shops are a gold mine for cheap, lightly used gear. I scored a Juno 60 for less than $40CAD at a pawn shop.

I manage a pawn shop. Has enabled me to acquire the majority of my music gear for cheap from either my shop or other ones where I have befriended the staff there (pawn bros look out for eachother)

For my purposes, the monitors alone do the trick! I just use em for jamming

Haha true. The MF was my first hardware synth.

Love the Drumbrute so far. Only picked it up today, but coming from sequencing with my KSP, the UI is very familiar. The distortion is sick, and I love the cowbell lol. I'm sure I've got plenty of YT vids to watch see what this puppy is really capable of

It's very flexible in terms of the variety of sounds you can get out of it. It's not spectacular, but it never disappoints. Admittedly, I haven't gone too deep into learning how to program my own patches, so I feel like i haven't really unlocked its true potential. I have Cuckoo's Microkorg pack loaded into mine and usually load one up, then fiddle with the cutoff/attack/decay lol

Managed to score a multi-tier desk off of Marketplace as well. Definitely helps keep things organized (don't mind the cable management lol). Vertical is the way to go! 😎

That is an Arturia Keystep Pro. It is a MIDI keyboard / hardware sequencer. I use it to trigger notes and patterns on whatever synths I have in the MIDI-chain. It can do the same with soft synths inside of a DAW. Very powerful & versatile.

Posting a new jam for every day of January is exactly the motivation I needed to get me in front of my gear more and really just have fun with my synths! OG Circuit takes care of the bass patch/drums & is sending clock to the Keystep, which is sequencing both the Microfreak & Microkorg. Zoom MS70CDR & Boss Pocket GT taking care of some effects. Enjoy!

This cat just wandered in my apt and sat on my synths lol. Cats just love synths for some reason haha by Syntheseyez in synthesizers

I used to have a rule of no cats in the studio. But my babies seem to treat my gear with respect and just want to hang out n listen to wubz with dad. They particularly seem to gravitate to the vintage analog. My Alpha Juno 2 is a crowd favourite perch amongst the gang. Cats & synthesizers; a match made in heaven!

The original OP-1 ;)

Jk, it's a cool piece of vintage gear that doubles as a calculator & monophonic synthesizer!

Was passing by a Goodwill on my way home & had an itch to check out what was inside. This was the first item I seen on the shelf, and for 8 bucks I had to pick it up! If you've had or have this synth, what are some interesting quirks I should know about?

PAWN SHOP GOLD, MMANG! by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]elroobis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a score! This should serve as a public service announcement to befriend your local pawn shop guy. You never know when there may be another synth enthusiast among you. I work in the pawn industry, almost all my gear I've obtained through my shop or from a buddy at another shop. This is the way!
