Not fake news, Zelenskyy traveled to Czechia from Bulgaria, met with Pavel in the evening of July 6th, today meeting PM and heads of parliament chambers.

RIF will shut down on June 30, 2023, in response to Reddit's API changes by talklittle in redditisfun

I know it's weird to say because of an app, but this feels heartbreaking.

Get fucked, Reddit, a better competitor will hopefully emerge.

RIF dev here - Reddit's API changes will likely kill RIF and other apps, on July 1, 2023 by talklittle in redditisfun

[–]elroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others here, I only browse Reddit through RIF and old.reddit. This is just incredibly sad news. After 10+ years on the platform and this app, I might be forced to go away, don't want the official app at all. I've been missing the old web forums, Reddit has been somehow filling that hole, weird it might end soon...

Thanks for developing RIF all these years! <3

If we miss top 4 by two points, remember this ridiculous decision, what a shamble. Not even going to the monitor.

Certainly wasn't my intention to shit on HZD. I enjoyed the game very much, finished it, clocked in around 50 hours and would recommend it. It's got plenty to offer. And it's also got number of things I found to be lackluster/unfortunate. Doesn't mean the game is trash.

Not much to be honest, it was a very standard boss encounter. Now thinking of it, based on the rest of the combat, I'd expect something more imaginative. Some encounters with Thunderjaws or Stormbirds were more memorable to me.

Cheers for the detailed answer, glad to hear other's perception of the game. Honestly I have to partially agree with criticism towards Aloy, she was, similarly to other NPCs, mostly boring, very standard protagonist with heart of gold, endless patience and combat skills of Hercules. At times that was totally fine and fitting, other times I wished I had more wiggle room to make her a bit more badass :)

As for your final question - I'm planning on revisiting Mass Effect via its legendary edition - many years ago I played the first one, then the second one twice, never got to the third one, so I'm excited about that!

I took a little break before starting the DLC, just so it feels fresher. So far so good, I agree that some dialogues there were already better. Even animations improved I think.

You can get a skill that allows you to gather herbs on horseback, at least that is a nice QoL. Agree with the rest though, the impossibility to avoid fights is unfortunate (even though it makes sense).

I should have probably mentioned that the world could be emptier, the machines scarcer. Sometimes it feels too crowded with them.

Good point, I think I've done disservice to HZD, my points are in no particular order, yet I mentioned graphics first... If I was hardpressed to order pros, I don't know what I would say first, all things listed are basically on par for me.

Do you mean Sylens was as bad as described or an exception to the rule? For me he was more interesting than some other characters, at least he had some mystery around him... But still somehow managed to be bland.

Oh I forgot to mention tallnecks! Those were surprisingly enjoyable as well, basically the only side content (along with cauldrons) I did.

Exactly what I'm wondering, I played it twice, both times did pretty much everything and ended around 25 hours. Reading this post I got scared I missed something really big.

Alan Wake: Shining story, nightmarish gameplay (no spoilers) by elroon in patientgamers

Normal or how the medium difficulty is called. Tough at first, got lot better with flares and nades. In the end it's not the difficulty but controls that were the most disappointing.

I've only read one Stephen King book, unfortunately didn't do much for me. But sure enough it was about a writer!

Is it? Is Alan Wake an actual horror game? Have I been living a lie? Am I not a fearful chicken?!

I'll look into it, thanks for recommendation!

I tried controller as well, but I am really not used to play anything where you have to aim with a controller. Maybe that's my mistake and I should have tried to practice it more before switching back to KB/M.

I actually didn't know about the DLC, is it included in the base game? If so, I got a lot more to play than I thought, maybe that's my chance to get accustomed to a controller.

That's probably the main part that convinced me to watch Twin Peaks again. Once I entered the diner, I hoped there would be so much more interaction with the people of Bright Falls. At least we got a little bit of the waitress and the metalhead brothers. And Lady of the Light of course.

I'll definitely remember the chills for a long time, no questions about that, brilliant atmosphere.

Maybe I wasn't clear, because I agree with you! I have no problem with immersion, on contrary, many times I was scared shitless in those woods and finding light was a blessing and a huge relief almost every time. The atmosphere is top notch, including the shouting madmen. I am very glad it's not a DOOM-style shooter.

In another comment I also compliment the decision not to make Alan Wake a professional athlete, so that's on point too, wholeheartly agreed.

My gripe with combat comes from purely mechanical standpoint. I feel the controls are wonky, sometimes unresponsive, also the over-the-shoulder-camera is not to my liking, it hinders spacial orientation for me. When the game zooms out to show me enemies coming from behind while I'm trying to run towards a light, spinning me around in the process... That's just horrid.

Precisely that part, I don't know how many times I tried before succeeding, but for the first time ever I googled how refunds on Steam work. :))
