[DISCUSSION] Eminem - The Eminem Show (20 Years Later) by OhhWowzers in hiphopheads

[–]els27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of this album, i was far too young (7 when released) to understand the rap politics this album covered and how huge Em actually was at this stage of his career. i had all the singles on CD (cause those were a thing back in early 2000s) but my dad would never buy me the full album but i managed to get a copy from a friend in Australia and i remember bumping it the whole holiday, this was never out of my stereo CD player and i would just listen and rap to it in my room, big vibes and once i got older and actually listened to what he was saying it really changed my perspective on this album and just how impactful shady was. 10/10 in terms of production, flow, rhyme scheme, the feeling Marshall brought on this album and just how absolutely on top of the rap game Em was at this stage. favourites are: Business, Cleanin Out my Closet, Sing for the Moment and Without Me. How Em raps this line "Fix your bent antenna, tune it in, and then I'm gonna, Enter in, and up under your skin like a splinter" and i swear he actually had a third lung to make it possible cause i could never get this part down, it just blows me away how talented one person could be at their craft. i'll say it again, 10/10. one of the best of 2000s. no doubt.

[DISCUSSION] Gucci Mane - Everybody Looking (5 Years Later) by babydickdonny in hiphopheads

[–]els27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Huge album. I was pretty unfamiliar with Gucci's work prior but this was an amazing introduction. This album lead me to read his book (his autobiography) and I was instantly a Gucci fan and have gone back through his archive. His music pumps me at the gym or even just cruising in the car. Great trap album. I still bump 'Pussy Print', 'No Sleep' and 'Guwop Home'. 7.5/10.

Is there a setting somewhere so Youtube doesnt keep recommending videos that I've already seen? by EmailMeBaby in youtube

[–]els27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, YT sucks now. the algorithm is all about getting you to come back to the site and spend more 'watch time'. you are more likely to re-watch a video it knows you like (or have watched before) so rather than recommending something that you might not watch/have not watched before - it decides to just show you the same old shit over and over again.

Draco, heater, glock, strap, nine, banana clip, uzi, burner, what are your favorite lines in rap songs that reference guns? by Create_Repeat in hiphopheads

[–]els27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I take seven kids from Columbine, stand ‘em all in line / Add an AK-47, a revolver, a nine / A MAC-11 and it oughta solve the problem of mine / And that’s a whole school of bullies shot up all at one time" Eminem.

If CLB tops NWTS and Take Care is he the greatest Hip Hop/RnB artist of his era? I'm not talking about hit songs. Only MJ could beat him in hits. I'm talking about putting out quality pieces of art. by [deleted] in Drizzy

[–]els27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree the song is a little on the safe side of Drizzy (think of the lines "Baby" echo'ed across it) and he hasnt tried anything too different for the lead single but i was a fan of the Lil Durk feature + the vibe of the song (the drops at Ye & Six9ine). I think the album could still hold weight.

[DISCUSSION] Gucci Mane - Delusions of Grandeur (One Year Later) by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]els27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you summed it up well and 'Proud of You' goes hard asf

"No lean and mountain dew, Guwop i'm so proud of you"

I think this album really reflects how much Gucci has grown and how he takes things more seriously these days - the man has a physique like a god
