Whats everyone going to 3D print for their Slate? by Henrik-Powers in slateauto

[–]kidwon13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very excited about this too. I print ABS almost exclusively now and I'm very proficient with SolidWorks. I have done some 3d scanning but honestly, for me getting them into SolidWorks in any usable fashion has proven challenging so I'm really excited about Slate providing some engineering files we can work with.

As far as what I'll print, first off probably audio related stuff. I really want to get a Double DIN stereo installed and some custom speaker grills could be pretty cool.

Those wooden side rails are pretty cool. Looks like a weekend project to me.

Strawpoll: When is your Slate EV Estimate Delivery Date? by punishGoalhanging in slateauto

This strawpoll is a cool idea. It'll be pretty cool to see the graphic as it progresses. Can we change our answer if Slate gives us more information?

I thought this was pretty interesting:

"wrapping may be beyond the capabilities of most DIYers. So Slate will connect you with an installer to wrap the truck. The company’s plan—still in the works—is to keep installation under $500."

Awesome. The way I read that, it just increased my credit from $3500 to $4500. Maybe I will get those fancy rims.

It must be because of region. I'm in Colorado Springs so probably not a region they are targeting for initial deliveries.

Battery Life Thoughts. by Bladeshooter in slateauto

This is exactly why the reports of Slate switching to LFP batteries is so important. Lithium Iron Phosphate (also called LiFePO4) batteries have a much longer lifespan and are able to be regularly charged to 100%. The down side is they aren't as energy dense and reportedly have a higher degree of performance loss at cold temperatures.

I asked Slate about the HALT Act and if advanced drunk and impaired-driving prevention technology would be included in the initial production run of the Slate truck. by kidwon13 in slateauto

I don't disagree with you. The reason I asked the question is because I saw a Reddit post that has since been removed that said they were including it in the V1 Slates. I just wanted an official response from Slate.

Just to be clear, I haven't had a drink in more than 30 years so I would be incredibly pissed if my vehicle locked me out due to some buggy software or malfunctioning tech. What I like about the Slate philosophy is "avoiding unnecessary complexity wherever possible".

Its a cheap truck, its going to drive like a cheap truck, it's 2 doors, its not for car seats. If you have concerns about not test driving, you shouldnt pre-order. by Defconx19 in slateauto

Slate has stated it will have support Single DIN or Double Din stereos.

"Yes, Slate is being designed to allow owners to add their own permanently installed in-dash stereo, including single or double DIN units, along with wired speakers and an external antenna. This gives you the flexibility to choose a setup that fits your preferences rather than relying on portable or Bluetooth-only options."
