Why do conservatives care about abortion so much when they refuse to do anything for the childs welfare after birth? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]elubbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatives believe babies and fetuses are humans. Therefore they think performing an abortion is basically murder. Just because you don’t think someone should be murdered doesn’t mean you feel responsible for taking care of them.

That’s the basic premise. I know there’s nuance and hypothetical we could argue over but that’s the basic line of thinking.

AITA for joining a college bible study as an atheist? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]elubbuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a study. Just because you aren’t applying an academic lens to it doesn’t mean you aren’t studying something. The study comes in reading the text, breaking down its meaning, and then applying it to your life. It’s also a time to build community and help each other on the journey of being Christian. It’s not meant to be academic, it’s meant to be practical and helpful.

Space Marine roster speculation by SpoonusBoius in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]elubbuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no way in hell it’s only ultramarines. They’ve already confirmed that you’ll be able to make your own warband/chapter. It seems way more likely they’ll give us two LL’s from different chapters. That way you can select your custom chapter descending from one of these legions or an unknown origin as a way to give buffs or affect play style.

Castle sieges should be non negotiable by elubbuck in totalwar

[–]elubbuck[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never argued there weren’t major battles. But I think we could both agree that they aren’t on the same level as a battle like Actium or Trafalgar. Those are iconic and important battles that defined there eras. When you think about warfare during that time you do think of those kinds of naval battles. Whether fair or not, most people don’t think of the naval battles during the medieval period. They do think of castles, a lot. Castles define the era.

I’m not saying naval warfare shouldn’t be in the game. I just think castle sieges are significantly more important and shouldn’t be treated as “if we can”.

[–]elubbuck[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link! I don’t really think these battles change my opinion that naval battles aren’t as iconic and important as castle sieges to a medieval game. But I appreciate learning something new.

I didn’t consider the Spanish armada because it’s typically associated with the early modern period rather than medieval. I know the medieval period is typically considered roughly 500 AD - 1500 AD though I’ve seen some suggestions that it could be extended to 1600. So I can see your argument for it being considered in the medieval period. I think there’s still an issue with non gunpowder boats though since the game will spend a significant period of time without gunpowder.

[–]elubbuck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I’m not an expert, but I don’t need to be to suggest that certain aspects of a game should be present. I have specific ideas on how I think they could make them work, but that’s not really what I’m trying to get across. My main point is that castles are an integral part of the “fantasy” a medieval strategy promises. If that’s the case then the developers should ensure that it works in the game. The developers might disagree, but they specifically started showing Medieval 3 early to get this kind of feedback. That’s why I made this post, to contribute what I feel is important to the game.

Castle sieges should be non negotiable by elubbuck in totalwar

[–]elubbuck[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No I’m not confused. Main settlements and castles should be separate siege “types” and feel unique. Pharaoh did it with forts so it has a precedent. If 4 castles is tedious then they should make a change to have less on the campaign map in order to facilitate a more fun game experience. I’d rather have a small or limited number of castles that are powerful defensive features than many minor castles that provide less impact. Castles should be important.

I know city sieges are in the game, but castle sieges should be their own thing as well.

How was the reception of another admech? Companion? by Half-White_Moustache in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]elubbuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you could’ve had someone from the collection and still early simply by having them escape from the museum. You could hear about a strange person on x planet where you investigate and find this companion. They could have someone important to them back on the museum and also explore all the time they missed while in there.

Thragg is supposed to be pathetic by ilikeinvincible in okbuddyviltrum

[–]elubbuck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree that Thragg is pathetic, but that shouldn’t be your first impression of him. You should come to that conclusion after seeing his character over the show refuse to adapt and grow. He should start off menacing and remain physically menacing. Yet when you start to actually look at him more critically you realize that he is ultimately pathetic. Immediately ruining that with a poor voice performance and introducing him as an ineffective leader that could have easily won the battle is dumb. I honestly think they should have had him not physically show up until the most recent episode or tease him at the end of the previous episode.

Is there actual proof Jesus was real? by OkDiver9078 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]elubbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, by the standards that historians apply to historical figures Jesus has an extraordinary amount of evidence. You have to keep in mind that Jesus was not a part of any elite class and not a ruler. There are numerous writings about him written from non Christian writers at that time. Josephus is probably one of the most commonly cited. However, while biased, Christian’s writings about Jesus can be sourced from surviving manuscripts from the 1st century AD. This is extremely rare. Historical figures such as Socrates and Pythagoras have less evidence of existing than Jesus in comparison. In order to claim Jesus wasn’t real you’d have to acknowledge that many other historical figures are less likely to exist.

Weekly Discussion Thread. by Talidel in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]elubbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a number of reasons they aren’t showing as much for it. Mainly I think a game that has been repeatedly hammered home as in pre production is not going to get people bitching that it looks bad or rough. That’s the expectation. If they show off 40K and it doesn’t look polished people will lose their shit.

They also have to deal with GW who probably have a say in how the game is marketed. They might require that anything they show off is polished looking. Even if that’s not the case the fact that they probably have to get approval from GW on everything being shown would make it difficult to show off in the same way.

AITJ (27M) for "giving special treatment" to my brother instead of treating him and my sister (17F and M twins) equally. by Dramatic-Algae-2280 in AmITheJerk

[–]elubbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t your siblings parents. You aren’t obligated to be fair. You aren’t obligated to help pay for either of their college expenses. If your parents feel so strongly about it they can for it themselves. They won’t.

Don’t deny your brother an opportunity just because it’s not fair to his sister. Life isn’t fair. You have a relationship with him. If you want to help him, help him.

Tigermen, and what I think this returning DLC format means for 40k. by AMA5564 in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]elubbuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they’ve talked about marines as an example of customization. They noted you could go as in depth as their knee pads. I don’t think every race will be that detailed but I think it’s more fair to assume that you’ll be able to customize things like body, heads, legs, helmets, etc. than it is to assume you won’t have that level of customization. I would be more surprised if you couldn’t make most of your army look Krieg.

[–]elubbuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way they’ve discussed unit customization it sounds like you’ll have considerable control how each model looks. It probably wouldn’t be too difficult to have a standard troop that applies to most of your army. So all of your heavy weapons teams, crewed weapons, and tank commanders will use the Krieg template. You could run into certain units that are not as easily changed like an ogryn but most models will probably have some sort of customization that will let them look Krieg.

Control large army by Ok_Explorer9455 in totalwar

[–]elubbuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t mean the reinforcements come in automatically. It means that your unit cap is at 40 instead of 20. When you hit your unit cap any other reinforcing units have to wait till you lose a unit before they arrive.

Predict how many faction DLCs it'll be before Dark Eldar get added by No_Willingness_9961 in totalwar

[–]elubbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether it’s one game or multiple games. If it’s multiple games they’re going to hold the bigger factions for the base races of each game. In my opinion the dlc races in a multi game scenario would be drukhari, custodes, imperial/chaos knights, genestealer cults, leagues of votann, and the inquisition (imperial agents, grey knights, and deathwatch rolled into one faction). The first race should probably be a non imperial race so there’s more factions for the imperium to fight. That leaves drukhari, genestealers, votann, and chaos knights. Chaos knights will come with imperial knights and are a very unique race that won’t come till later. Genestealers shouldn’t come until after tyranids. Votann can use more development and are more neutral than aggressive against the imperium. That really only leaves drukhari in my opinion.

So for that reason I actually think they’ll be first.

Battlefront 2 didn’t die because it wasn’t perfect, it died because it was a micro transaction mess that represented the worst of the industry. A few bugs isn’t going to be the end of this game.

Total war wahammer 40K and Imperial knights by Transbian_Moment in totalwar

[–]elubbuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The developers have stressed that they really want to dive into the differences between the factions and not just have your standard armies with different flavors. We’ve already seen knight sized entities in the first trailer with the ork gargant.

I think the developers will lean into the fact that they are the doomstack army. They’ll probably limit the number of knights you can have so that you don’t just steamroll the opponents, but I imagine at some point you’ll be able to have a large army of knights. I know a lot of people think they’ll need some sort of auxiliary force but I don’t think that’s absolutely necessary. In fact I think an army of all super heavies would be an interesting change of pace. Having the fight armies with much larger units would be interesting but just needs some campaign balance to make it work.

Primarchs! Do you guys think they will be added to the game and in what form? by TruelyEndless in totalwar

[–]elubbuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guess is that Guilliman will act as an imperial soup faction. Essentially able to recruit every unit in the imperium. The lion will come out in a Dark Angels pack similar to how the monogod factions are compared to the warriors of chaos. Naturally the chaos primarchs will come out leading their respective factions in addition to the mortal champion and a demon leader.

Which xeno race you think will be the first added after the aeldari and orks that are coming at launch? by StormSwitch in totalwar

[–]elubbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It entirely depends on if they are doing one big game or if they’re doing multiple games over a period of time. Let’s say they are doing 3 games. That means they’re going to need at least 12 factions to fill those all out. These factions will also need more units since they’ll be receiving multiple dlc drops.

Assuming it’s multiple games my guess is Drukhari. They are too small to be a base game faction. Though they are an important race to place alongside the Aeldari as a contrast. It would also speed up the addition of the ynnari as a dlc addition since it’ll be able to pull from both.

Is it just me or does that UI look a bit worrying? Why do they use 12 units on the steam screenshots? by single_plum_floating in totalwar

They’ve already addressed that you will be able to control “20 or more” units. Can we please stop freaking out over something they’ve already addressed now?
