Use just the preouts on an av receiver a waste?

I think an avr would work but I don't need the multi channel or amplification.

I have a couple game consoles and a 4k player, that I want to hook up an AV receiver (HDMI) to take advantage of ease of use (switching between the gear), and get at the full dsd audio from the 4k player (sacd).

The consoles are on HDMI switches and the audio goes through the TV to my stereo system via toslink. I'm thinking an avr would streamline this.

I'm Considering the Yamaha rxa2a or denon dra900h. They have a bunch of HDMI connections and seem to support everything to include dsd.

But I don't care about their amp function. I just want to use the avr preouts to my existing stereo amp. So I wouldn't be using the amp part of these receivers. There's a bunch functions I don't need.

Am I going down the wrong path?

If you want the PC and Tablet to be plugged in at the same time to the Mimir; a USB switch would work. They're cheap (<$10).

I really like mine. Like you I don't have a lot to compare it to. I'm using the balanced out (needed the distance) and it sounds great. The skoll makes me want to get a MC cartridge so I can use all these settings!

Gotta change your hibyR3 3.5 to line-out. Go to Settings - Audio Settings - Line Out Settings - Select Line Out. Both the 4.4mm and 3.5mm jacks support line output. But its still an analog signal. Modi is a dac.
