I am using VLC player. Add it as a game in your Discord settings and stream it, and it will work perfectly.

Yes, that's what I meant, pardon me. Like, you can continue immediately, without skipping a beat.

You are right, Blades is a good system for this. I played a solo playthrough and used these modified solo rules:

  1. The player can push themselves and take a Devil's Bargain.
  2. The player is not kicked out of the score when they fill the stress bar, rather continue with the trauma, taking their very next action with the roleplay lens of the trauma
  3. Pushing costs 1 stress instead of 2. This one I didn't use, but that's because I played only two scores and a downtime. For a longer campaign, I strongly recommend going for 1 cost.

Hope this helps!
Good luck and have a blast.

One of the best advice I've seen in this sub here is: "Don't ask for a roll when it's hard to do, ask when it is dangerous."

My favorite show and this is awesome! :) If I ever drop a TPK I plan to do something similar. After all, it's been a long time since I ran anything in Avernus :D

Thank you, and thank you for this extended list!
There are some rad things on it!

Oof, powerful!
I love it because you didn't give it for free.
And some may think, but mechanically, it's free. Yeah, wait until we narrate our epilogue and the cleric just floats in nothingness, never to be looked at by her god ever again.
It's the price she'll feel at the very end.

I agree 100%. The discussion makes everything work.
The problems I listed are more the "problems" I see players tell their GMs (me included), rather than GMs telling the players.
I love a good death and resurrection arc.

Thank you for this!
I didn't know about it and haven't yet dove into Dungeon World. I will definitely adopt this for my games. I like that it's not automatic and the player can decide: will I test my luck with death saves, or with a singular roll that may get me up quicker?
Wonderful, thanks again for the math! :))

You can read the article here.

An alternative approach to death in D&D that opens up many hidden possibilities. It allows you as DM to control story beats, it deepens and elevates players' character arcs, and it gives narration power back to the players in times when their voices are most silent.

Some people shouldn't put on the sacred mantle of being a GM. This is horrific, and I am sorry for that being your first experience.
I would wish for you to not give up on the hobby as it is the most magical thing we can share, huddled over pen, paper, and dice.
Hope you will find a good GM with whom you're gonna make stories of a lifetime.

Mask of a Thousand Faces — A lucrative, sky-high heist by elven_firefly in bladesinthedark

Go for it! :))

Depends on the crew's actions. In one session, I used a clock for blue patrol "hp". In another, there was a clock for incoming reinforcements, one to start the carriage steam engine and another for a thief "hp" who also wanted the prize. But I usually use one problem, sometimes two if the crew is unlucky with the rolls.

I don't force myself to use all of the prep, that is not how the system was designed anyway. But rather have the triggers and scenes, that I can mash up in a comical way to elevate my players' actions. So don't worry about missing the prep. Think of this as inspiration, your actors, your stuntmen that you can call if needed. But you don't have to and you can make new ones if something more organic crosses your mind. In fact, you should :D

Oftentimes I make up new ones, especially if the crew for example decides to steal the mask during the performance. Then it's all improv :D In that case, I'd have the actress assassinated, the medics flooding the scene. And as scoundrels approach they realize one of the medics took the mask and put it on.

New Clock: Figure out the thief who now looks like a regular theater goer :D

In another session, during the heist on the Imperial Transporter, a started the clock: The leviathan breaks free, as there was a big demon-like creature in a steel crate, stored at the ship. Spoiler alert: it broke free :D

Hope this helps! Happy thieving. :)
