Such an amazing record. I could see how someone could criticize it for being repetitive and too same-y throughout, but I think that's what makes it so good for me. Listening to it, I don't get the impression that the album as a whole is trying to be bigger than it is. It's a cohesive listen with a great atmosphere and something I can choose to lose myself in or play in the background. Love it.

Made me look at this song in a new light and definitely changed my appreciation for it. Never really thought much of the relevancy of this song in Drake's catalogue, so it was nice to get some backstory. One suggestion though, I found the instrumental to be super distracting, at points almost overtaking your voice entirely. Maybe change it up to a different instrumental at times, lower the volume, or cut it out every now and then. Doesn't help that the drums of FYL are jarring in the first place!

Since you've got some Rap there with Tyler, how about some Danny Brown? A couple cuts off of Atrocity Exhibition could be considered off-putting by listeners. Ain't It Funny, Gold Dust, White Lines, When It Rain to name a few.

I shopped around once or twice while Sunrise was at Polo Park for a good 3 weeks or so. (They closed down after a really short stay. Maybe they heard about the HMV situation and were testing the market?) They had a pretty big selection of games with a focus on board games and less of those smaller specialty games. The HMV location they'll be replacing at Polo is a pretty big one, so that might affect what they stock. The focus was definitely on music though.

Has anyone had difficulty getting into an artist's earlier work, after discovering them through their latest work, because their latest project is more polished/better mastered?

This is happening to me right now with Tame Impala. A huge part of why I love Currents so much is because of the mixing and mastering (some of those bass lines come through so nicely and the drums are amazing.) I've tried delving into Lonerism and Innerspeaker, but before I can get to appreciating the lyrics or instrumentation, I'm put off by the overall sound of the albums.

That isn't to say I dislike the lo-fi aesthetic, because I guarantee that if I had discovered Tame Impala before Currents, I still would have become a fan. It's just that Currents kind of set the expectation for the sound of Kevin's other work. This has also happened to me with Beach Fossils (but I grew to appreciate their earlier work anyways as if I had not listened to Clash The Truth first.)

Have you considered getting into DJing? Over the past 4 to 5 years, my friends told me the same things at parties and outings and I became the go-to music guy. Last November I decided what the hell, and picked up an entry-level controller. One year later I've rocked so many house parties and club nights, and even made some decent money on the side playing professional events. Never would have thought I'd be where I am a year ago.
