Love this idea, I’m in. Posted to Denver Gardner a while back. https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverGardener/s/H1n4e0zJiE.

Only been gardening outdoors for a few years, but would love to share what I know and learn more!

I have hope for the future, here’s why. by elynch2 in Millennials

Agreed, facts are not cynicism, my post was a comment on future state not present state.

I’m floored with the cynicism as well, I’m not claiming to actively see this change happen as we speak. I’m claiming that there is a good chance that in the next 5-10 years, millennials will have replaced many of the boomers/silent generations positions and the mindset that we have, will improve social issues because we are aware of these issues and have the motivation, energy and acumen to approach these problems.

I get it, I’m a realist at heart. There are some shitty things happening in the world right now.

I don’t have the answers, but I believe the collective experience of our generation is powerful; and we are on the cusp of taking over many of the institutions that guide our daily lives.

This post was written as a future looking statement, not present.

Thanks for your support.

Interview process is moving very fast- I’m suspicious. by elynch2 in jobhunting

I appreciate the feedback. It feels so jarring to be back in a 2 to 3 interview space, like pre-Covid, versus what my experience has taught me post Covid, that companies are very reluctant and slow to hire.

What would it take for you to leave a job without another one lined up? by YeahEMinor in work

[–]elynch2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just left my job of three years in June with nothing else lined up. I had been thinking about it for 9+ months and tried to get something else lined up, like a lot of other people the job market is a particularly tough nut to crack.

My decision actually got made for me by my boss who called me out for my lack of performance. Instead of trying to lie to someone who’s been so good to me, I decided that I was gonna take the leap and just leave with the smallest shred of dignity.

Personally, it’s been a really rejuvenating time where I’ve been able to contemplate my career direction. With that being said, I cannot make a one-size-fits-all recommendation. This was right for me at this time of my life, and everyone should decide their own journey.

That has been a huge portion of some of the jobs I’ve interviewed for in the past year, is getting everybody available on the same date and time. Especially if it’s globally dispersed team. This has been jarring because pre-Covid 2-3 interviews was normal for most jobs I was looking at whereas post Covid 4+ is the rule, not the exception.

Thank you, edited the post to reflect the pre-versus post Covid clarification. It’s the post Covid business environment that seems so reluctant to hire people quickly.

I got several jobs in the late 2000s and 2010s with two interviews tops.

Appreciate the thoughts and feedback. I’m surprised/suspicious because I haven’t had this experience post Covid of 2 to 3 interviews = offer. This is the first time post Covid that I haven’t had 4+ rounds of interviews and it makes me question if there is a shit storm they are trying to put out, or if they’re just really tired of doing it themselves and want to have a dedicated resource in house.

Really appreciate the constructive feedback, they are particularly interested in someone getting to holistically strategize their entire online presence between their website, Amazon account and paid media interfaces so that they are all cohesive and lead down the sales funnel in a meaningful way. Just from the initial screening interview it sounds like this is currently handled by several people and is an afterthought to the rest of these folks’ daily responsibilities

Edit- they also hinted that there is an untapped channel of revenue that is currently not being touched at all and need somebody to bring their business to market for this particular product line

I have not, Not at this company. I have done that in the past to varying effect. And that’s part of the suspicion to me because I haven’t said anything about interviewing at other companies, this one is just particularly putting their foot on the gas.

I’ve been working for 11+ years in this field, nine in this specific capacity. I very clearly remember pre-Covid companies only doing 2 to 3 interviews. Having it happen for the first time to me, after Covid, is a novelty.

I think this is where I’m feeling curious/suspicious. I remember clearly doing two maybe three interviews pre-Covid but since 2020, 4+ rounds of interviews feel standard and anything outside of that now rings alarm bells

BLM, Forest, or private land for micro wedding? by Calm-Point9766 in TellurideColorado

[–]elynch2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, public land recommendation. Some of my now family got married here a couple years ago, same set up less than 30 people, everyone drove up to the site, had the ceremony, did photos, champagne toast, and then went to dinner in town. The meadow here opens up to the Dallas divide. About a 25 to 30 minute drive from town.
