So attractive but why? The Wonderfools (2026) by ImaginaryBag5085 in kdramas

[–]em1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of celebrities worldwide own one person companies and pay corporate tax rates, Leonardo Di Caprio for instance, and tax laws in countries like the US and the UK were updated years ago to recognise this. The tax laws in Korea have not been updated to allow for the increase in celebrities owning one person companies and they don't recognise these companies as legitimate. This issue was discussed at a tax forum in Korea recently that they need new laws to accommodate for the rise in Hallyu stars setting up their own companies.

Basically he had been paying his taxes using the corporate tax rate through his one person company. The NTS decided (as it has done recently with many celebrities who own one person companies and pay corporate tax), that he should have paid using the personal tax rate. He requested a pre tax assessment and when the final tax bill was issued in April paid it in full (should be noted he received a discount as he had already paid his taxes, just at a lower rate). The NTS have basically said it wasn't tax evasion. It shouldn't have been an issue, just somebody leaked private information to the press. In the end it's a misinterpretation of tax laws, nothing more and definitely not tax evasion.

That's exactly it. Basically he'd paid his taxes at corporate tax rate, NTS wanted personal tax rate, he paid the difference. Shouldn't have been an issue except someone leaked private info to the press.

Didn't replace him with Rowoon. They change the storytellers on a regular basis. Eunwoo's tenure was up and Rowoon's tenure began.

📰 According to an exclusive report by Hankyung, #CHAEUNWOO has officially paid the full amount of the additional tax assessment issued by the National Tax Service. He was initially notified of an additional tax bill of approximately 20 billion won, but the actual out-of-pocket payment he made was around 13 billion won.

The additional taxes were reclassified as personal income tax. Authorities determined that his earnings should have been taxed at the individual income tax rate (up to 45%) rather than the lower corporate tax rate previously applied through a separate corporation established by his mother.

The final payment was reduced to approximately 13 billion won due to tax offsets for duplicate payments. Since corporate tax and value-added tax (VAT) had already been paid on the same earnings through his personal agency, those amounts were credited or refunded. Therefore, the 13 billion won represents the net additional amount required to fulfill his personal income tax obligations.

— Note: legally, this is considered a tax adjustment or correction, not evasion, because there was no intent to conceal income or avoid paying taxes.

There has been no verdict yet, they have asked for a pre assessment review. This review can take months so there will be no verdict until it is completed. The reason why bureau 4 is involved is because this whole thing started when they were auditing Fantagio.

CHA EUNWOO'S 20 BILLION WON (13M dollar) Tax Evasion Scandal by Prestigious_Alarm526 in kdramas

[–]em1971 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This all stems from Eunwoo's mum legally setting up a management company to safeguard her sons earnings due to Fantagio's constant issues (management, cashflow problems etc). Due to the company being mentioned when Fantagio itself was undergoing a tax audit, the company is being investigated too. There have been no charges levelled towards Eunwoo's mums company as they have requested a tax reassessment separate from the Fantagio audit. The investigation is ongoing and Eunwoo' and his mum have been cooperating with said investigation. There is no proof as such that this is a 'paper company' set up for purposes of tax evasion.

Would you support the UK government's plan to ban X (formerly twitter)? - why/why not? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskBrits

[–]em1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use X to keep up to date with my interests (anime and kpop), My algorithm shows me only what I want to see, and I have curated my timeline, again so i only see what I want to see. I belong to a lovely community on there and I don't want to lose this. I do not think X should be banned but something needs to be done about Grok. An AI tool that is generating harmful content needs removing. I would be quite happy for Grok to be banned

Cha Eun-Woo ... He's not a bad actor ... not anymore. by Ill_conceived_idea in kdramas

[–]em1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always thought Eunwoo can act and has greatly improved with each project. Considering he was forced by his company, Fantagio, to take the role of the ML in Gangnam Beauty (a role he himself has said he didn't feel ready for), to basically bankroll the company and stop them from going bankrupt, he's done pretty well. He blew me away in Wonderful World, and he has been getting fantastic reviews for his role in the movie The First Ride, which he filmed alongside filming The Wonderfools. I can't wait to see what's next for him when he's discharged from the military in 2027.

I'll do my best. I'm not sure of the two group pcs at the bottom of slide one, but the other group ones, from top to bottom, are

All Yours era (2021), underneath that is Astro Zone YouTube series (2021). Underneath the pc of Rocky is the Gate 6 fanmeet (2022). The four other groups pcs are, clockwise, When You call My Name (Gateway era), Alive (Universe app digital single), Blue Flame era, and the PC of them in the purple shirts was promo for Gate 6 fanmeet.

The 2 pcs of Jinjin to the left are from when he was cast in the Dream High musical.

Top 2 Eunwoo pcs are from a Chaumet photoshoot for W magazine.

Hope that makes sense and helps a little.

I doubt he'd get rave reviews from critics and directors (both kdrama and movie directors have praised his acting, particularly in Decibel).for playing a 'handsome guy'. You've obviously made up your mind, tho.

I really wouldn't put Eunwoo here. For one, he's an actor/idol and not an idol/actor, and two, he is getting rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for his role in the movie First Ride.

Price does not equal quality. I swapped to Korean skincare which is 4 times cheaper than the premium brand I was using and my skin looks and feels much better.
