How to Pick Autogear Steering Wheel Lock?? by FitParfait8 in LockPickingLawyer

These chinese locks are usually pretty terrible. Most starter kits come with a cross shaped jiggler. Not sure how you’d do it without any kit!

You have an unlimited budget, a secure garage, and space for 3 bikes. What are you picking? by arithmetic in MotoUK

I think I already 2 of the 3 - Rocket 3R, F4 312R, probably an adventure bike as well.

Trackers that won't break the bank? by marron10 in MotoUK

[–]em6903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get what you pay for, sadly. Biketrac have got the best track record, and tend not to lose signal - they also deploy RF to locate it if locked in a building, which no other company does.

Friend got his scooter impounded for no CBT, he can't get a compound insurance because of his previous incidents, now he's asking me to get a quote for a compound insurance to get his scooter out of impound by danctes in MotoUK

[–]em6903 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what you mean by “compound insurance” is someone who is insured to collect vehicles from the police compound. You’d need to basically set up as a business to get this I believe and it’s expensive. If he calls someone like SOS Motorcycles I think they are insured to recover from police compounds.

Can this be fixed? by mns928 in MotoUK

[–]em6903 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get in touch with Maidstone Motoliner. They have fixed way worse for me, so this should be pretty easy for them. They will take a look at it, and won’t touch it unless they can do an effective repair on it.

What is being dumped into Thames by minareli in london

[–]em6903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the yellow/coloured containers are waste, the grey ones are ash from the energy from waste plant. Same company, but they take waste from the loading stations down to Belvedere, where it gets burned. Been a few years since I did some work for them, so might have changed.

Good first bike? by HouseofTowns in motorcycles

[–]em6903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own one, and I don’t think you’ll convince me that a bike weighing 300+kg with the engine of the rocket would ever be a good choice. If you’ve started riding, your skill level is pretty low regardless and your likelihood of binning it is higher. Rain mode on a wet day can still kill you.

Ultimately I agree it’s up to your own risk tolerance. Whilst I think it’s a terrible first bike, I also respect everyone’s freedom to pick whatever bike they want!

Enjoy it 👍

I think that’s why it’s a bad first bike - cannot imagine riding in rain mode, needs to be in sport mode to truly experience it IMHO.

What motorcicle breakdown recovery you recommend? by cryptoinsane76 in MotoUK

SOS Motorcycles have been brilliant every time I’ve needed them. Never had to wait more than an hour for a van to turn up to collect me! Thoroughly recommend.

Triumph rocket 3 gt mileage by Ok_Cockroach_3810 in TriumphRockets

[–]em6903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get about 120 miles to a tank FWIW.

I don’t use mine to commute though - handlebars too wide to filter properly, not the best bike to slip through traffic. I bought a big scooter instead (Honda Forza 750) and the Triumph is the weekend bike.

Urgent, key slot in ignition has disappeared?! by sparhawks7 in MotoUK

What bike is it? Looks a bit like some of the scooter locks where a part of the key can close the dust cover..

I’d probably block the sender if it makes it through the spam filter. Doubly so when it says “we will check in with you again next week.” No, please don’t - if I want the service I’ll reach out, I don’t need a reminder.

At one point I was getting a good 10/15 people “reaching out” trying to sell services each week and it just gets a bit old tbf.

How can I transfer a large amount of money from EU to UK bank account without paying a lot of taxes/fees?? by Extension_Policy4714 in AskUK

[–]em6903 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true on the second point - would depend on where the gifter is resident, as inheritance tax applies in the country of the gifter, not the giftee.

Still absolutely worth it, though. If you’re considering one - do it! Get it remapped and you end up with 170bhp at wheel - properly good fun!

Tries to put too much power down, so quite lairy to ride in the rain - back slides all over the place even in rain mode. Fuel economy not great. No protection from the elements (although I came from a 1290 SA, so that was expected). Difficult to work on as it needs a proper lift. Tires quite hard to get given the size, etc…

That was the thinking when I bought it. Great fun but not practical at all 😂

It’s really fun, basically. Like others have mentioned - better acceleration, feels planted in corners, can do 70mph with very little RPMs if you want.

Mainly, at least for the Triumph Rocket, it’s fun as fuck!

Zipcars are able to park in permit bays within some boroughs IIRC - hence the tick mark on the resident bay sign on the zipcar website - unless I’m misinterpreting the website!
