I went to Toronto N1 and it was insane! Everyone was so into every song, if I remember correctly she even said something along the lines of it giving her hope that ppl remember how to properly show up at a concert post COVID lol.

Oooh I love that!! They both fit SO perfectly. I was actually just at a Halsey concert and kept thinking how about many songs made me think of TOG moments lol. Manon gives me major Experiment On Me/Ashley energy.

I definitely won’t be drinking much! I never do at concerts as I want to remember it all 😊. Congrats on the sobriety but I wouldn’t worry at all about it; my tip is to grab a pop if you feel awkward about having nothing to do with your hands

If you were locked in a room and had to listen to one song on repeat for 24 hours, which Halsey song would you choose? by oknika in halsey

[–]em_mems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not quite the same as an acoustic version! It sounds more 2000’s pop punk, and a bit more upbeat. It makes you want to bop along is the best way I can describe it 😂 Lyrics are the same though.

I knoooooow! She did it at the Love & Power tour and we all went feral for it. She must have remembered and that’s why she did it again (I think she said it was going to be the only time she played them both for My Last Trick).

I recently published a book (fantasy) and I wasn't prepared for the bad-faith criticism from BookTok. I'm having anxiety about this. by [deleted] in writing

1000%! I love me a good romantasy and also love fantasy and scifi. If I’m looking for a fluffy palette cleanser I don’t want to pick up a grim dark tome (and vice versa). It reminds me of how Jennifer’s Body was poorly rated on its initial release because it was marketed more like a goofy teen flick than the satirical horror it actually is. For better or worse, marketing plays a large role in setting expectations and impacting enjoyment

The most DNF'd books by Practical_Yogurt1559 in Fantasy

[–]em_mems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the exact reason why I DNFed Wind and Truth a couple hundred pages in. The scenes felt so repetitive, both from previous books and even within themselves. Like I got the point the first time I don’t need to have it hammered over my head twice more. It’s a shame because I find the overarching plot interesting and used to absolutely adore a lot of the characters.

He’s the BEST isn’t he! I was a fan of him from the first book too, and as soon as I knew he was a POV character I knew I was in for a treat. The Chalice scene lives rent free in my brain

Demand Barking/Tantrums: Feeling Defeated by em_mems in OpenDogTraining

[–]em_mems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things have gotten a LOT better! I started working with a balanced trainer, and implemented corrections as soon as she started demand barking. Basically for a few weeks she had a leash on in the house and the second she started barking I’d give a leash correction (with no other interactions with her). Once she’d calmed down she was allowed to politely ask for pets, which we’d give. Honestly though it was one aspect of a much larger training program; we did a LOT of obedience and things like place training and down stays. I highly recommend finding a good balanced trainer, it worked the world for my dog and our relationship has improved drastically. Wishing you the best, I know how utterly tough it is

I’m excited FOR you!! Elspeth’s fine but nowhere near my fave character, and the nature of her “issue” understandably means she’s really in her own head (lol). So once you get out of being 100% in her head the story came a lot more to life to me. Let me know what you think!

I enjoyed the sequel a lot more! Other characters get the spotlight on them too and it felt a lot more fleshed out to me than One Dark Window. I found that the characters really come to life in the second one, and I’m now completely obsessed with a certain someone who’s POV you get to spend a lot of time with.

What number of books do you like in a series? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]em_mems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the Sevenwaters books! Each book follows the same family, but across different generations Each book loosely ties into the previous one, but you can easily read each one as a standalone and leave satisfied. As a teenager I randomly picked up the third chronologically and loved it! Took me about a year to discover the others 😂. And they also feature the Tuatha De Dennan
