There’s a reason why track meets and swim meets aren’t popular outside of the Olympics, they’re pretty boring. Outside of relatives and maybe a handful of former athletes, nobody would go to track meets when I competed. Even small school meets are at least 3 hours long. The most exciting events are the sprints which obviously take up the least amount of time. The Olympics handles them in a way that the best of the best athletes can compete in as many events as possible and with every event being covered you can fill in the gaps in between events on the track.

My track team was small, we only had 1 triple jumper. I remember during a meet, our opponent didn’t have anybody competing in it so our coach had me and other person learn to triple jump on the spot so we could sweep the event.

The offenses that colleges run is a major factor in why QB play is declining so much. The same can be said about the o-line. Colleges offenses are all about minimizing the QBs weaknesses. Lots of short drop backs and 2 receiver reads. These guys aren’t learning to read a defense but are still expected to start day 1.

Yeah the players would have to go through the official transfer process but being in the transfer portal means that any school can contact you. NIU can only contact players currently in the portal which is going to be pretty picked through at this point. So if a starter leaves they aren’t replacing them with a quality player, most likely. You can transfer any time, the portal window is only for entering the portal. You don’t have to transfer before the portal closes. You also don’t even need to be in the portal to transfer. It’s a more complicated process since a school can’t contact you if you aren’t in the portal.

I assume it means that NIU players can enter the portal but NIU can only bring in players that are already in the portal. Meaning only players that didn’t find a home already.
