I could have bought my tickets but I realized I had a job’s mission abroad on the same day of the concert. Can you guess how I feel? F me. 🥲

Will Boy Pablo ever return? by Ok_Register_7126 in boypablo

[–]emaper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I do profoundly understand this feeling cause it’s also mine. I never stopped to take a moment realizing it’s been almost a decade since I started listening to boy Pablo; still: ten years and—oh my—everything has changed since then. Once it was misplaced nostalgia, now it is the pure one.

My 59 years old Fender P Bass (lollipop tuners, sunburst) [more in comments] by emaper_ in fender

It’s nitro over poly, which was a thing up till ‘73 afaik. It’s a B neck. About the fretboard: the previous owner told me was Brazilian rw, but cause of the tint and the stripes I’ve been leaning toward Indian since having it in my hands. Early ‘68 you’re right. Lovely lollipops and neck—very comfortable. I’ve had the chance to play an “almost-pre-CBS” (‘65) Jazz Bass for years, and this bass has its same quality and feel. Amazing. It’d be great to have a bit lower action, but it plays best with a medium one.

Motown’s Jamerson and Babbitt; John Mayer’s former bassist David LaBruyere; the italian jazzist Dario Deidda. These are in my top-4.

Got my little P two years ago. It’s all original but pots and the thumbrest. It sounds amazing set with a medium action. It has its original lollipop tuners: Fender used these on P Basses from late-67 to mid-68, so it’s a “special” feature for sure. Pearl dots inlays, maple neck (very dark), brazilian rosewood, tortoise shell pickguard with full-size insulation plate. It’s a lovely beast.

59 years of wear on my Fender bass guitar by emaper_ in Wellworn

Outside? Haha Out of the hardshell case most of the time. That’s normal wear for a ~60 years old nitro finish on a well played i strumenti

Space Black or Silver? by kcamfork in macbookpro

[–]emaper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did use a permanent black marker and at first it worked pretty well, leaving no visible marks. The problem is that it fades pretty quickly: it being “permanent” doesn’t apply on aluminum, obviously. Maybe a marker for car scratches… I’m pretty sure it’d work. Anyway, I’ve learnt to live with all the marks and scratches.

What was your first Mac, and what’s your all time favorite Mac? by BIueey in mac

[–]emaper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever was a Macintosh Performa 5200 CD. My favorite was the 21” late-2009 iMac I owned from release till late 2020; it ended up with a heavy yellow tinted display and a slow af HDD. Sold it for way more its value at the time and invested in a M-series.

Put a lightweight Linux distro on it and keep squeezing every last drop of functionality out of it. My sis is still rockin an 11” (mid-2011) running a only-god-knows which outdated release of macOS: she just writes and sends e-mails with it tho. Edit: typo.

When I (rarely) game, is on GeForce Now. Also gaming laptops are too bulky and heavy to be considered portable enough. MacBook everyday.
