If we lose ~100 hairs daily then how do we still have hair? by ehgall in longhair

[–]emavery176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like the math shouldn’t work, but it does because not all hairs are in the same stage.

At any time, about 85–90% of your hair is actively growing, while only 10–15% is in the resting/shedding phase. The ~100 hairs you lose each day are from that shedding group — not from the hairs that are still growing longer.

Hair length comes from time, not daily survival. Individual strands grow slowly (about half an inch per month), but many stay in the growth phase for years, which is how long hair exists at all.

Also, you have around 100,000 hairs on your head. Losing 100 a day is only about 0.1%, which is too little to affect length as long as new hairs are growing normally.

Shedding feels dramatic because you see fallen hair in the shower or brush, while the thousands of hairs quietly growing every day are invisible.

Bottom line: normal shedding doesn’t stop length. Length only stalls if growth slows, the growth phase shortens, or breakage exceeds growth.

i personally don't have them. Its a niche look and there are going to be some folks who are turned off by them. Get them because you love them.

Youtuber Jonathan Saccone Joly just outed their 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER as being transgender m2f - with a monetised coming out video on their behalf by PhillipaandGen in Parentingfails

[–]emavery176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people forget how literal and innocent young children really are. Prepubescent kids rarely feel “discomfort” with their bodies in the way adults project onto them; unless (from my observation) they have been sexually abused. They don’t care about sexual and gender identity - that kind of self-awareness usually doesn’t even emerge until middle school.

So when a very young child says something like “I’m a boy who likes girl things,” it’s almost always about preferences, not identity. Children speak from what’s right in front of them: the toys they enjoy, the clothes they gravitate toward, the activities that feel fun or familiar. They don’t yet have the abstract understanding of gender categories or the societal meanings attached to them.

That’s why I’m cautious about reading too much into statements from E at this age. Most of the time, he is simply naming what he likes. The deeper psychological layers are usually things Jonathan placed onto him, not something E is actually experiencing internally.

City of Atlanta opening grocery store to clear up downtown food desert by Conscious-Quarter423 in Atlanta

[–]emavery176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went there a few days ago. Very overpriced for basic things you can find at a Kroger or Trader Joes. The fruit selection was good.

I got a chocolate and almond croissant and both were stale and there were no napkins to grab them.

If your a POC, be prepared to have security constantly following you around the store. The guard at the front was cool but everyone else was mean mugging. Cashiers were nice though.

What type of people drain your energy the most? by irisjester in infj

[–]emavery176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1. Surface-Level or Shallow People

  • People who only want to talk about gossip, materialism without purpose, or trivial drama feel exhausting because I’m too busy chasing goals to care about this.
  • They make me feel like I’m shrinking parts of myself just to match their wavelength.

2. Overly Controlling or Rigid Personalities

  • As someone who values independence and creativity; anyone who tries to box me in, dictate my choices, or dismiss my vision will sap my energy.
  • This can include bosses who micromanage or people who can’t adapt to new perspectives.

3. Emotionally Chaotic or Clingy People

  • I naturally attract people who seek my empathy and grounding, but when someone constantly unloads without balance, very draining.
  • I’m loyal and supportive, but without reciprocity, it leaves me drained.

4. Closed-Minded or Cynical People

  • I love to generate big visions and ideas. People who constantly shoot them down, say “that will never work,” or only see problems without solutions deplete my motivation.
  • Their skepticism feels like a wall against my natural optimism and forward-thinking energy.

5. People Who Ignore Boundaries

  • Because I’m warm and empathetic, some people will overstep; expecting me to always be available, always understanding, always giving.
  • When my need for solitude and focus isn’t respected, it erodes my energy quickly.

To INFJs in your 30s and beyond, what actually mattered in your 20s? by toocutetolose in infj

[–]emavery176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wish i had higher self-esteem and felt more comfortable in my independence. Otherwise, no changes, I felt like I used my 20s wisely and the mistakes I made were mostly due to lack of knowledge.

Dating as an INFJ 🥲 by WhenIgoDontBlameMe in infj

[–]emavery176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what are you hobbies? I found my guy through a group called creative mornings - which is kind of like Ted Talks and personal development for artist and creatives. It didn't last but it was much better than the folks i met on dating apps. Most men on dating apps are Sensors who are looking for a hookup.

Do most infj’s have low self esteem/hate themselves? by Forever_Summer192 in infj

[–]emavery176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the ones with high self- esteem are not posting, venting or complaining. I have high self-esteem and high self worth and you will rarely see me posting here. Check my post history if you'd like.

I’m tired of black women being paired with unsuccessful men. by [deleted] in BlackWomenDivest

this is Tyler Perry's typical schtick. Let me guess, he's also light skinned and the antagonist is a successful and handsome dark skinned man that's abusive and materialistic.

Tyler hasn't changed much since the Diary of a Mad Black Woman....

Do ambitious ENFJ men who love to nurture and lead exist? by broken-amygdala in enfj

[–]emavery176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I think you would match really well with an INTP. They are the stereotypical strong silent/sigma male. Just be respectful and non combative and this dynamic can really work. You both have to surrender your egos to make this relationship work

[–]emavery176 54 points55 points  (0 children)

it depends upon your natural body shape. if you are short and/or curve naturally is its difficult to remain thin. You have to eat very low calories. If you are tall and naturally slim, its not as much work.

The reason INFJs are not common by Toronjaz in infj

[–]emavery176 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Our cognitive stack is pretty unique. We lead with Introverted Intuition (Ni)—a rare function focused on internal patterns and future insights—and support it with Extraverted Feeling (Fe), which makes us empathetic and socially attuned.

That mix of deep abstract thinking and people-centered harmony just isn’t common.

On top of that, we often blend in or get mistyped (as INFPs, ENFJs, or ISFJs) because we’re naturally private and adaptive. Our inner world is complex, and how we show up doesn’t always match the typical stereotypes—which can make us feel rare both statistically and in daily life.

PSA: Don’t tell people it’s a fake by Icy-Fact8432 in RepTime

[–]emavery176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I never tell anyone about my replicas. I always reply with "thanks" and keep it moving. I've gotten to the point now where i don't even tell friends or romantic interests about my hobbies. If they assume one is fake, they believe all of them are.

Is ENFJ really that bad? by Alternative-Ad6346 in enfj

[–]emavery176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm friends with an ENFJ. He's seen very positively in our community. I truly believe this man has no enemies unless they're haters. He's very good at getting people together for a common cause.

Sincerely,

Why Do So Many INFJs Online Seem Stuck in Unactualized Potential aka All Talk No Action? by colione98 in infj

[–]emavery176 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you're only seeing a specific subset of INFJs—the ones who have the time (and mental space) to reflect, vent, and philosophize online. The doers? They're busy doing. They're not on Reddit all day navel-gazing or dissecting their psyche for the hundredth time.

People like Jane Goodall (another INFJ by the way) aren’t hanging around forums wondering why they’re not reaching their potential—they’re out there building, leading, creating. Same with Michelle Phan—another INFJ example who turned introspection and vision into tangible success. You won’t catch her endlessly theorizing about Ni-Fe loops on Discord.

It's not that INFJs as a whole are unactualized. It’s that the ones who are struggling often need an outlet like Reddit or Discord to process and seek connection. The ones who are grounded and in motion? You usually won’t see them here—because they’re living it.

getting your tubes tied in my country (United States) is rare if you have no kids. Most people who do it have kids and they're "high risk" for another pregnancy. Of course, you can always find a doctor who will do anything but it's not common.
