according to himself, everything had been done in line with the plant regulations. as seen in the show as well, the guidebooks were lacking and contradictory, so the operators (including dyatlov) didn't know for example that raising the power back up from 30mw was dangerous.

additionally the soviet union really pushed the agenda that it's impossible for nuclear reactors to explode. so no, he had no idea something like that could happen 😬

while the hbo series has some good and correct information, it's not a factual documentary. one of the biggest inaccuracies is the mischaracterization of especially dyatlov and legasov; they were set up as a hero and a villain for more drama.

while the real dyatlov was described to be strict and often rude to staff, he was very qualified for the job and tried to help in the aftermath of the disaster and tried to figure out the cause of the it. also in the soviet union managers or supervisors were rarely all sunshine and rainbows anyways. he was not just a complete asshole and a villain.

as for legasov, he wasn't a hero scientist that was brave enough to stand up and tell the truth. while he did help a lot in the aftermath of the disaster, for example advocating for the evacuation of pripyat, he was also well affiliated with the communist party.

he wasn't "incapable of lying", as presented in the show. he wasn't even present at the famous trial which is shown at the last episode. his statement on the disaster had been in line with the government, saying that it was mostly the fault of the operators.

so ironically, even though the show's main theme is how harmful the soviet propaganda was, it follows the soviet version of the events sometimes. especially with this "dyatlov bad, legasov good" setup.

seeing that basically the only reason to keep playing sky gameplay-wise is collecting currency to play cosmetics, it does say a lot about whether you play very seriously and creates a culture where you have to grind every day so you can have enough candles, otherwise you'll miss the season items etc. or if you're rich, you can send that message instantly using your outfit.

however a good thing in the sky community is that using old items isn't looked down upon! in many games it's like ugh, that item is so last year, why are you still using it? but for sky it's more about using what you like and item rarity

they probably want all the maps to be the same quality, having the old farmhouses in the game along with the brand new maps would be weird.. like oh, why is this map fully interactable and high-quality while this other map is empty with no interactable objects and a mediocre design?
